An update for those wondering....

she's lovely!

and she reinforces my opinion that women from the ukraine [as well as the russians] really know how to dress! i've never seen anything like it. every woman from that region i've met no matter body type knows how to dress!

i'm hoping she doesn't go too traditional..... i see her with gold and enamel as a band....our custome yet something of her region as well.

please tell her welcome and that i admire her style [as well as recognizing you for the gem you are!].

Congratulations Perry! Hope you have many many years of wedded bliss.....

Woo-hoo! Congrats, and welcome back! :appl:

Concerning how we met:

I would like to say it was your typical internet dating contact. However, my typical internet dating contacts for many years have largely consisted of uninteresting people, strange people, and a few outright dishonest ones that got past my initial screening.

Interestingly, Princess Z also talked of being tired of the "strange" men who contacted her - and how my emails were so real compared to almost all the others.

Truth be told. I don't know who contacted who first. But it was an internationally targeted site as I had decided that since, after many years, I was not having much luck with most of the women who grew up in America that I would consider women who had immigrated to the US as they would have a different set of expectations.

I was not looking for someone who lived in another country as travel overseas is outright dangerous with all my food allergies (and who knows what is in foreign food - in a country where you cannot speak the language nor know the local names for things). For those who do not know - in order to bring in a man/woman from a foreign country to be your spouse you have to meet them in person. Since most single women in many countries cannot get a travel visa to the US - this means that you must travel to the other country to meet them. Thus - for several years I politely declined many many hundreds of contacts from people overseas. But, I always listed on my profile that an interested party had to live in the US (legally) or be able to travel to the US on their own.

Princess Z lives and currently works in the Ukraine - but has a standard 5 year visa to visit the US for either business or as a tourist (up to 6 months a year); and has visited the US before (this an exceptional woman as only something like a 1 in 5,000 single women in the marriage age range can get a US visa from her country). She has a brother who lives in Iowa. She is also indicated up front that she was able to take a 6 week vacation should things progress so we could spend enough time together to learn about each other (compatible, etc) prior to making any long term commitments.

We hit it off on email, phone calls, Skype right away. She reads the same basic self improvement books I do - and we have suggested books to each other which the other has read and appreciated. This was so funny - in an email she mentions a line; and I reply that's from Dale Carnegie’s "How to Win Friends and Influence People", and have you read any Napoleon Hill.... to which she cites the most common Hill books (she reads them in Russian, I in English).

Lets just say its has been the very unusual internet dating contact - and her visit has gone great so far. I am off on a work related business conference next week; so she has returned to her brothers for the week, and then we get together again next Friday for her final week in the US on this trip. Concerning her previous travel. I am not the first guy she has checked out in the US or in some other countries. But I'm the guy she wants to marry; and versa visa (she is heads above a lot of other woman I have met - and so many things match up including long term goals).

Now we have to go through the Fiancée visa process (which is not necessarily easy - nor will it be cheap as I am using a lawyer so as to not make any mistake and mess up her US Visa). It is also not a guaranteed process. But, you do what you need to do to marry the right one.

Have a great day and all of you do something great with your life,

Perry

I'll give it a best shot.

Looks like you've done as much or more.

She's beautiful and sounds just perfect for you (and you for her!).

I wish you all the best luck as you deal with the visa process and begin your life together. Congratulations again!

Sorry for the delay in the update. The computer I was using died about 2 weeks ago just before my business trip. My new computer arrived yesturday.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Princess Z has decided to stay in the US and not return the the Ukraine for now. We are planning a wedding sometime in April - and looking for available sites.

She has also advised me that she wants a ring where she does not have to worry about snagging the gemstone when she puts her hand in her tight jeans pockets. I showed here a simple bezel setting - and she likes a low set bezel - but wants side stones too (as I have some very nice "picture" book gemstone and diamond buying guide books. I am busy as a bee doing everything (including wedding planning) and am going to ask for help finding different styles of bezel settings. I will post a separate thread in Rocky Talk for that.

Congrats Perry..! She looks lovely. My husband is half Ukrainian. Can't wait to see what you two choose.

I am so glad finally to see this thread, Perry! The photos of Zhanna here are truly charming. She is, indeed, a beautiful woman! I thought that we should link this thread with the thread which follows this one so that people who read this in the future can go on to see your wedding pictures and to read more about your fairytale wedding story!
