Well,
This is my first post and I have some questions
I have been dating my girlfriend for about 4.5 years and I have decided to pony up and get an engagement ring. I am originally a Canadian that has recently moved to the greater Chicagoland area. The last time I was "home" I went to Birks and saw this, it caught my eye and I think a cut like this will be the one:
Amorique - http://www.birks.com/index.asp?cFlag=products&searchStr=amorique&SKU=908993&SecID=0&CatID=0&LangID=1
- http://www.mayors.com/index.asp?cFlag=products&searchStr=amorique&SKU=410017868607++&SecID=0&CatID=0&LangID=1
I like the cut which I have come to find out is a cushion
. The setting is also really great.
Seeing as I''m Canadian I thought it would be nice to get the ring in Canada, but it seems like the price is quite a bit higher in the great white north compared to what Mayors prices the ring at. Birks/Mayors have exclusivity with the Amorique, but there has to be something else like it, perhaps even cheaper?
After drooling over these websites for a while I started googling Amorique and found this site had a posting regarding it in 2005. I started looking around on here and found GOG and the following posts:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/fancy-gurus-please.47678/page-2
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/cushion-question-for-cehrabehra-and-others.58597/
I''m still trying to find more information on cushions. I know my girlfriend likes this cut because I took her to see it and she instantly feel in love with that ring. If anyone could provide me some information to read or any help that would be great. Some criteria:
Square Cushion
Colorless or Near Colorless
High amount of fire and brilliance (close to a round if possible, definitely more than a princess cut)
0.5 - 1 carat
SI1+ for clarity (eye clean)
Are there any other cuts I should be looking at (different cuts of Cushions)?
Thanks!
