I've begun looking online and in chain stores and local jewellers for the engagement ring for my SO. I'vebeen searching PS googlesearch under a whole slew of keywords and figured it was time I bucked up and posted.
She really settled on the Vera Wang double halo (msrp ~$10k) but the center stone quality on it was just terrible after reading about the 4C's on here. She wants a cushion cut (~ 1 carat size) with double halos and either a split v-shank or a widening of the single band as it gets close to the basket. No slender ring leading to the basket. She absolutely does not want any spacing visible (or frames) around the pave diamonds on the halos. It should just all "flow" nicely together. I really like the setting on the Vera Wang ring, but the centerstone quality and build quality upon reading here have me concerned. I would in no way pay the proposed $799 for the protection plan at Zale's either.
This is what the VW on her finger looks like:
I like how a slightly elevated centerstone gives more overall pop, but in the VW ring, it's extremely elevated and I think the profile is just too dang high. She tried on some more rings and likes the overall design aspects:
I'd like to use an online designer where I can get it all in one shot. Centerstone and setting. I like the artistic flairs like the pave diamonds on the basket braces. Of course the VW has the blue gem underneath and some scrollwork, but just pave underneath on the struts would be nice. I'm looking for overall a bulky sparkly ring with no hues of yellow or discoloration like the VW had. I've searched whiteflash, bluenile, ritani, tacori, etc online and none had really any setting with the inspiration we are looking for. Can someone point me in a good direction for this and maybe a onestop shop designer I can get a quote from? Time is about a month away and I'd rather deal with one point of contact then sourcing a diamond then designer, etc.
Thanks in advance!
