Well after the last set of CADs (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/more-cads-i-think-its-getting-there.180774/), I discussed a number of points with the vendor and I am glad to say that I think we are finally on the right track and nearing completion. The results of the latest round are shown below. I think it is pretty close to the inspiration ring posted in the previous thread, and will just a few more minor points it'll be all set.

If anyone has any comments please feel free to share. Definitely would like to hear what all of you have to say.

Thanks

Thank you ladies. I am not sure why they had such a problem coming up with this design in the previous renderings since I haven't really said anything new or different to them, but something was definitely getting lost in the translation the last few tries. The vendor told me that they just went from scratch for this round, and I am glad that they did. I just requested that they add a little bit of metal on the underside of the halo and possibly shave a little metal from the outer dimensions of the halo to give the halo stones a little more of a scalloped look. But the second point will be determined more by the setter and probably not something that will show up on the CADs. The last addition are going to be a pair of small surprise stones on the inside of the shank at the 6 o'clock position which will either be mine and her birthstones or a pair of her birthstones (she is a November girl and they have two birthstones).

And if anyone has any final comments, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Sometimes it takes time. And the vendor probably just decided to go off their own instincts having talked to you and less on the written directions. You basically want a combination of three major designs. The HW halo, the Legacy, and the Verragio/Chriscut cluster halos.

Adding the surprise stones in the 6 o'clock position will interfere with the flush fit of the wedding band unless they raise that bottom shank, which would make the setting too high and too prone to knocking about. I'd leave it out. Get it engraved with something special to the two of you.

Just perfect; it's incredibly gorgeous and the lines are more fluid this time.

Actually my point of contact at the vendor was himself not sure why the CAD team seemed to be disregarding the things I was noticing and pointing out since they appeared to make sense to him. But in any event, they seem to be on the right track. As for the surprise stones, these will be about 1.3mm round stones set inside the shank. They will not be visible unless she takes the ring off and looks inside the shank, and will in no way touch the sides.

TY Chrono. Unfortunately I might not be able to locate the colored stones that I would like. But thank you for the input in the other thread.

You are most welcome. The design is already so clean I would not put the surprise stone there even if it were structurally possible.

I am actually not 100% on doing this yet. Just want to have the ring completely finished. I think deciding if I want to include the tiny surprise specs (they might even be smaller than 1.3mm) will be a relatively easy task. Should be getting some more feedback from the vendor later today. Hopefully a wax form will follow.

If you want to add the surprise stone in the underside of the band, this is the time to do it, not later. The bench needs make the seat to hold the melee when the ring is being created and will not be a happer camper if he has to manually drill a seat later.

Just confirming that you are doing single prongs, not double prongs like the inspiration ring.

The vendor is well aware of my intention to include the surprise stones in the shank. I have send a picture to him (which I posted in the other thread) showing that these will be on the inside rather than the outside of the shank. As of this moment he is looking to see if he can actually locate the stones that I want, which is what will partially determine if they are included or not.

As for the single vs double prong, I assume that you are referring to the prongs holding the center (since I think all the others are being shown as split prongs). Yes, we decided to keep those single. I think it will leave more of the stone open and shouldn't have a negative effect on the overall appearance. However, if anyone thinks there will be some sort of a clash between the single prongs for the center and split prongs for the rest, please do comment.

BTW, for those of you who are wondering what I am referring to with the placement of the surprise stones, here's what I'd like to do:

I think since everything else has double prongs, having the main stone be double pronged just goes together better. Glad to hear that the bench is taking care of sourcing your surprise melees.

O oh. More decisions and more stuff to stress over!
