Hair All about wigs!!!

@mellowyellowgirl so I went to my hairdresser this afternoon. She is such a sweetheart. She redid the bangs and cut bangs into my newest piece. We did try side swept bangs but it didn't stay so she recut it into blunt bangs. Both wigs are very similar but here they are






I know they look the same but I promise they are a bit different. Same vendor. One is 27" one is 29" one is darkest brown and one is the next shade lighter lol

And then we went to get new sunglasses for me...Maui Jims are my favorite

I have an appointment this Saturday AM with a local hairdresser (two minutes away) who works on wigs. But I love my current hairdresser so much (she is only 20 minutes away) I am thinking of canceling but Greg says I should try her out. Maybe. My current hairdresser refuses to charge me but I do tip her generously. I feel guilty however not paying but she insists. It's just she does not own the salon so I feel a bit funny. The local hairdresser charges for her time but I am not sure how much. Whatever it is I am sure it will be fair. Anyway just wanted to update you on the bang situation lol. She said I didn't do a bad job but I wanted a thicker bang and I wanted to try the side swept bangs.

Ooh looking forward to your verdict on the new hairdresser. My son’s hairdresser is on holidays and even though his hair is a mop he’s waiting until the hairdresser comes back!

The aim for me now is to go lighter and collect more interesting colours. I have so many “true hair “ wigs that I loved but now when I go out I’m a bit “Hmmm you look too normal!”

Love these on you @mellowyellowgirl. All these styles look beautiful on you. You are lucky so many colors look really pretty with your skin tone. You can many lots colors without having them make your skin tone look washed out. I wish I was able to do that. Is your husband getting a kick out of coming home to a new you multiple times a week? It’s exciting to come here and see what your latest find is and you always look beautiful in them.

The first wig (style wise) looks close to the one I have. I think I’m going to send it back to add a little more hair. I also want to get another one and start wearing them now. With it being summer here, the humidity takes all the curl and waves out of my hair the second I walk out the door and replaces them with frizz.

Haha yes hubby is loooooving the wigs. I think he leads me astray because he’s always super enthusiastic about the more questionable outfit choices I make . Mind you he’s super reserved himself so I’m kinda baffled that he looks thrilled to walk down the street with me looking like some frolicking cottage maiden.

Can I please see a picture of you in one of your wigs? Plzzzzzzzz

My two new wiggies will be arriving next week! I will post pics when I receive them!!! So excited because one is blonde blonde and if Zendaya and Beyoncé can be blonde, so can I!

I just got back from the new hairdresser who is super close to where we live and she is really sweet
I am pleased with her bang skills
I am off to run errands but will come back when I get a chance to take pics. I just took a quick pic now and I am off. Switching a headband wig because it is pouring here

She cut bangs into two pieces and she said these are high quality pieces which I realize and was nice of her to say because she also sells wigs. But I am sticking with my known high quality vendors

Hey there Mellow. We have such bad weather today. Feels like it's been raining every single weekend this spring. I am wet and a mess but I just got home and tried on the long wig the hairstylist cut bangs into this morning. I think I prefer a thicker bang but I know you prefer a less heavy bang and the hairdresser does to. She said she would make it heavier if I wanted to but to wear it and see what I think. So I will and we'll see\

Excuse my sleepy eyes..I am pretty tired and we did a lot today already. I am staying in for the rest of the day and I am already looking forward to bedtime

I wore a hat with my wig today because it’s just so darn cold! With the hat on I don’t think anyone can tell that it’s a wig.

Speaking of hat wigs...they make wigs specifically to be worn with hats...where they take the bulk off the top so it is light and easy to wear with a hat...if you want to check that out. They are less expensive than a full wig too.

I have two hat wigs and they are so versatile. I wear them on rainy days when we run errands. I put it on in a second and I don't even feel I am wearing a wig. Super comfy and for me that is saying a lot as I have sensory issues. Which made getting started with alternative hair more challenging

Here is one of my hat wigs. See, all the bulk on top is gone so the hat lays flat and is comfy



This is my favorite hat wig. I wear it a lot (because it rains a lot here)



And another favorite is the headband wigs. They are also less bulky and are also very easy to wear and also less expensive than a full piece

I’m so silly but I thought the wig was attached to the hat when you said “hat wig”

On AliExpress they come attached to a hat at I’m always like: Why do I want to wear the same beanie all the time???

Yes it is as wiggy as heck but I rather look cute n wiggy instead of just having my straggly hair minus the cute.

Plus….. green with red hair!!!! Squeeeeeeee

I walked to the station with hubby (sensible winter attire) and me swishing my crazy red hair. Hehe I have this SUPER reserved friend whom I’m training down to visit after exams in my craziest wig. She’s like “Yes come down and be a menace.”

I need to decide on which wig!!! Will show you more when I get home. I opened the mail, threw this on and left!

I suspect they sent me the wrong wig but I’m not mad. This is a great almost going to blonde colour for me. It looks blondish in some lights in real life.



And this is just flat out blonde

I love it and Lil Sis says it’s her favourite wig on me.

My go to vendor is having a July 4th sale but her pieces are still in the thousands and while I am tempted I have more pieces than I can wear right now. But oh I have my eye on a piece from her that would be $600 off with her sale...25% off sale which is her biggest sale

You will be pleased to know I am wearing my full wigs more often now and feeling (a bit) more confident

It was very windy yesterday so my hair (and bangs) got messy but I feel that makes it look more natural

Have been studying hard for my favourite subject at uni where they are super mean with the marking. Hopefully I’ll be freeeeeeeee end of this week!!!

And I loooooove the plastic hair because this wig was standing up but I managed to run a hair dryer through it and press it down! I looooooove the way it looks now! Much better than the other day when I took off with it fresh out of the box!



Hehe I got a little too big for my boots and had an incident. So I’ve been feeling like an invincible wig wearer and have been mixing it up between wig caps and wig grips. The caps are more comfortable than the grip but the grip is soooo stable you can basically yank my hair dramatic telenova style and it will not come off. Anyways I decided since I’m a pro at installing them now I only used a wig cap for my 1hr lesson with a student today. I slapped on the wig and didn’t even check the adjustment hooks (have a tiny head, usually need to make sure the hooks are on to tighten the wig). So I’m happily watching the kid draft a paragraph when I notice in the glass behind me that there’s a huge bulge on my head. I reach back to touch the bulge and I feel this pocket of air! Wig cap had rolled off my head and popped the wig up! I pushed the wig down as hard as I could and continued on with the lesson.

Now after I drove home and went into my kitchen, I noticed that one side of my hair was uneven. Much longer than the other. Upon inspection it turned out that the wig cap had sprung and released all my bio hair which had popped out from under the wig since the wig was riding up.

Now I wonder if that’s why the student’s mother was avoiding eye contact with me after the lesson

Oh well! It’s the short wig I posted above! Lesson learned! Put on wigs properly before leaving the house!!!

The first wig tends to look a little strange. Partly because you won’t be used to it, you aren’t used to putting it on in the most efficient way and it’s almost like your brain rejects it and the way it looks on you. Play around with it and just get used to the feel of it. If I can make a $15 wig work, any other wig is a step up!

I am temped but no. There is a wig I have my eye on and it's 25% off but still expensive and I have so many I do not wear so I am exercising self control lol. The sale ends July 4th and I have not checked if anyone else snagged this one but I am not going to get it. I really have too many. I wish we iived closer because I would so happily lend you any of my alternative hair to wear

Yesterday I changed my hair twice lol. That is the beauty of alternative hair. In the early AM I saw my podiatrist and wore my long bandfall piece that my girlfriend made for me. She is so talented.

Then that afternoon we went to the outlets and I changed to my hat wig since I was wearing a sun hat all day to protect myself (skipped the sunblock since we were going in and out of stores we weren't in the sun long enough imo to justify wearing sunblock

Hubby has a thing for me as a red head and pointed out that a mid length red head wig would be more manageable if I don’t want to wrangle the long one on some days.


This one I couldn’t resist. I don’t know why but I’ve got this weird urge to be blonde!


This one is your fault because of all your long wigs. So I got myself a long and curly because honestly I should have been born with curly or wavy hair! Curls make me look much better!


I have a girls day this weekend and an insane outfit planned! Will post pics!

@mellowyellowgirl after cycling yesterday we had to run out to pick up something and it took me literally one minute to get ready to go...put on my headband wig and voila. Ready despite my bio hair being a mess after cycling all day Gotta love alternative hair. No makeup but hair is perfect..or as the kitties say...purrrrfect

Aww thank you so much. I prefer ashy colors. Unfortunately ashy always turns warm in time just like my bio hair which started out ashy does too. The sun and time make it more reddish. But yes..ash for the win Thank you XO
