Every year I get a combined present; birthday, anniversary, Mother’s Day, Hanukkah etc. all rolled into one. I wasn’t really searching for anything specific, but then Alex posted this amazing high dome, rose cut oval, and as you all know, if you don’t act quickly with Alex’s stones, they will be gone. So I bought it and knew I wanted to have Casey set it. I have always loved her Lumiere setting, and thought they would be a perfect match. So I had Alex send Casey the stone and she worked her magic, setting the stone and halo in platinum with a 18k yellow shank.
I have always loved really detailed settings, and have never had a solitaire. However, if I had seen this stone before sending it to Casey, I might have chosen a beveled solitaire. I have little hands and fingers, so this ring is a bit overwhelming on me, but thanks to DSS, it’s looking a little smaller every day. So in the future, I may have Casey remake it, although one of my favorite PS friends is adamant that a solitaire won’t be blingy enough for me, which may be true, as I do live for sparkle.
But this particular diamond is so prismatic! It reflects so many colors simultaneously, and I’ve never had a diamond that behaves this way, and I think it would probably be an amazing, very blingy solitaire. At the moment, however, being that it is a rose cut, I’m glad that it has a halo to protect it from my clumsy self.
My pictures are terrible, and my old lady hands even worse, so I linked Casey’s Instagram pictures too, so that you can see her in all her glory.
