AGS Laser Inscription?

I ordered an AGS diamond from WhiteFlash and was told that it was laser inscribed with the AGS number. I had the diamond sent to James Allen to be set with one of their settings...turns out that the diamond does not have the inscription....is this a big deal? It does have the hard copy AGS cert....talked to my WF rep and he said that some have the laser inscription and some don''t? Does this sound right? He said it would cost about $200 to have it inscribed....any advice?

Does it say on the report that a number had been inscribed, also was this an A Cut Above branded diamond or Expert Selection? I believe ACA are usually inscribed but I don't know if ES are, but if you were told this one was inscribed then it would be best to find out what the situation is. Did you specifically ask at the time if this particular diamond was inscribed and were told that it was?

Yes I did, it was ringing a bell!!

I went back and checked the report, it doesn''t mention an inscription on there as you said, so maybe that was incorrect info you were given about this particular one being laser inscribed. Have you spoken to the rep you originally dealt with who said the diamond was inscribed?

JA may be able to get it inscribed for you quickly and for less money if you can catch them before it’s set. They're in possession of the stone, right? They can use a provider other than AGS so it can save them shipping, insurance etc. Whether or not it’s a big deal depends on your temperament for these things. It’s not necessary but some folks get comfort in knowing it’s there. If you want they can even inscribe personal messages at the same time.
