I thought I posted this earlier today but now I cannot find the post so let me try this again. Anyway, I am in the market for an Oval diamond. I have been looking for a while and just recently got serious and thanks to you guys here and the wealth of information available, I am much better educated and have been in touch with some excellent vendors. I found a stone which I think looks excellent from the picture but would like the opinions of everyone here as I am not that knowledgable of the IS and ASET images, plus, just to hear what others have to say only makes me more informed.

Here are the specs...

Shape Oval
Carat 1.73
Color G
Clarity VS1
Measurements 9.47-6.72X4.11
Table % 56
Depth % 61.2
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Very Good
Culet None
Fluorescence None
Certificate GIA

Certificate... http://www.databurstpc.com/jm2000/1.73%20G%20VS1%20Oval.pdf

And pictures and IS and ASET images....

Any input is very apreciative!
Thank you, Rich

Everything looks good...What did the vendor have to say about it? I would ask if it has a bowtie aswell...

The vendor described the diamond as being gorgeous with lots of life and sparkle with minimal bowtie. The specs and price was good so I asked the salesman to bring it in for further inspection. Once it came in, the salesman I am working with said the stone is absolutely beautiful with a minimal and thin bowtie (doesn''t flare out large like some can he said) and that it does have a great sparkle. I think the picture of the stone at 40x is just beautiful. I was curious though what some of the experts from PS had to say as well. i am seriously thinking about making it "the" stone.

Thank you for the reply!

I''d ask for real life pics, just to be sure about the bow tie.

It looks very symmetric.

Looking at it again, it's not as bad as my initial reaction.

JulieN, what was your initial reaction? Is it really that bad a diamond? Anyone else?

I did ask for a couple more pictures but it was very late in the day by the time I got to call so I am getting them Monday. They have another diamond coming in, a 1.68 carat, on Monday as well. It will get the full battery of images and he said they will do a side by side comparison in pictures as well for me.

No, no, it''s not bad. It looks pretty good.

Let''s wait for that other one to come in. But the first one looks pretty good, too.

Hi Rich and welcome,

Go ahead and post the other info when you get it then we can go from there. Ask the vendor concerning the bow tie and how prominent it is in reality.

He did say the bowtie was slight and was also very thin. The most important thing for my girlfriend is she wants a sparkly ring so as long as it does that, she is hapy. I''d like a quality stone with minimal bowtie that makes her happy, fo a good price. We can merge the 2 (which so far this diamond sems to do), we''ll be in business!

I will definitely update the post on Monday. Anyone else has opinions based on my photos and these specs or any words of wisdom, please share.
Thank you everyone!
Rich
