Hi folks,

Am selecting an engagement ring, and have shortlisted this diamond

Characteristics:
Round Brilliant, 0.71ct, G, VS2, Triple excellent
No fluorescence
dimensions 5.74x5.77x3.51mm
crown angle 34.5
pavillion angle 40.6
depth 60.9
Culet none
Girdle medium faceted
clarity characteristics: cloud, crystal, feather --> eye clean

I have seen it under ASET/IdealScope/Hearts&Arrows -- everything's symmetrical, no obvious light leakage

I'm quoted a price of USD 5600.

Is this an acceptable price for a diamond of this quality?

Please advise, thank you!!

Hi

I think 5,6K for a eyeclean 0.7ct gia triplex round is a ripoff. For example here is a whiteflash 0.73 ACA for 3.5k
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3408350.htm# Keep searching, you can do better than the diamond you posted if you look around the pricescope vendors i.e. goodoldgold, whiteflash, briangavindiamonds, jamesallen. 5.6k will get you considerable larger stone with exceptional quality.

a very nice stone!... :appl:

Way overpriced!

Thanks guys, have started the search again!

The 2 diamonds that were suggested appear very good on the ASET and idealscope, but I was wondering if their HCA score of 1.4 (for the 0.74ct, F, VS2) and 1.1 (for the 0.733ct, G, VS2) would affect the light performance and account for the price difference. Does the HCA score matter that much?

What are you thinking is wrong with the HCA scores? Idealscope outranks HCA and besides anything that scores 2 or under is
worth more investigation. Idealscope would be considered the "more investigations." Since you already had the idealscope images
you didnt really need to run it through the HCA. The HCA is used as a first cut elimination tool not a final selection tool.

The color/size and various other things (inclusions) could dictate the $500 difference.

If it were me*, I would save the $500ish, get the .73 G and put the extra money into the setting but, if you value higher color then
go with with F. These are branded, AGS000, ideal cut stones with all the documentation to prove it and at so much better deal
then the one you were looking at.

Good luck...either stone would be lovely!
