Looking at this setting and ring combo for an engagement ring. The setting only allows a 1.1 ct stone, otherwise I think I'd buy a cheaper per-ct but larger stone. Any thoughts? The setting is def her style and she's fine with the size (but I'd rather wow her!).

Here's a 1.27 stone from BG and WF for a little less:

And it -just-fits the setting, which has max 7mm. What do you think PSers? Is this a good deal if my SO loves the setting...or go big?

If it were me, and I could afford the BGD AGSO stone, that's the far better choice in terms of ideal cut quality and stone performance. Does it fit the setting your SO prefers?

The virtual inventory stone linked above (1.27ct J-SI1) has an AGA 1B score and HCA score of 4.0 - in my mind it's performance will not compare with the BDG AGSO you're considering, but perhaps it is worth your while to have Brian call it in and give you his opinion.
