Hey, I'm trying to find a cushion 1.2+ ct, $6,000-$7,500. (at least J+ and SI2+). Before I was thinking antique, but I don't know whether it makes that much of a difference if its antique or modern. So basically same as everyone seems to say..one that doesn't look too small but doesn't look too flawed- kind of burnt out on this to be honest, I keep getting close to finding one and then I get busy for a few months and start over..lol. Going to get some type of halo shortly after. Thanks so much!

Possibilities(?):

1.51, I, VS1, $7,490

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.30-carat-e-color-si1-clarity-sku-61289
1.3, E, SI1, $7,400

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.31-carat-h-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-174935
1.31, H, VVS2, $7,380

I'm not sure if any of those are antique. Anyway, any help would be great, thanks!

None are antique. I like the E the best of these 3, but it has quite the booger, not sure if that is going to be eye-clean.

Okay thanks, yeah I picked those somewhat hastily. I'll put some more time into finding some later today. Thanks!

all 3 of the ones you posted will have the crushed ice appearance...is that what you're looking for?

to help us better aid you in finding a suitable cushion, you should probably narrow it down to what kind of cushion that you like

cushions come in many different forms: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...rience-in-making-a-harry-winston-halo.183473/

let us know which style you prefer...do you like chunkier facets? or thinner more splintery facets?

Thank you so much, I'll definitely look through those (after I get some sleep, 3am here in FL), but hopefully I can find a good one in the next few days and get this rolling. Thanks!

Thanks! No, probably antique. I know some people have said the crushed ice can look good too though, but I see what you're saying about narrowing it down. (chunky antique)

@OMG_AMG

Thanks- really beautiful diamonds! I know $6.5-$7.5k is a relatively low budget, but I'm hoping to go a bit larger since the cushions appear slightly smaller than round/some other (so possibly have to sacrifice on the clarity/color a bit).

The last one seems more on point as far as that goes:
$7,320, 1.2ct, F, VVS1, 6.61*5.86*3.94
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.20-carat-f-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-207116

I'll try to seek out a few myself and post them later. Thanks!!

I guess I can go up to $8,300

Along with the other one above, another idea:

1.27ct, K, VS1, $7,381 (wire)
[Not sure if K has too much color or not]

I'll keep looking, but having a little difficulty finding antiques :| I've been trying James Allen, Good Old Gold, Victorcanera- I guess I'll look through other posts to try to find some other sites.

do you have an idea of where you want to get your setting from?

I would go with the vendor where you want to get the setting from...just call up the vendor, tell them what stone you're looking for (e.g. antique cushion in whatever size and color/clarity and budget) and they will find you a couple of good candidates and you can go from there

This is a beautiful stone! K color... depends on the person. But this is an ideal cut with superior optics AND fluorescence - awesome!

Not all antique style stones are the same - the top vendors here that kind "specialize" in them (GOG, ERD, etc) will be able to find the best performers for you. And a well cut stone will always look whiter than a poor performing stone.

Remind me again what setting you are looking for?

Yeah, I was going to order the loose diamond while I have enough to get it- I'm a student and there is this issue with not being able to explain why I can't spend money to my g/f (so at least this way I won't be able to spend it lol), and then wait like a month to get the setting and have a jeweler I know mount it since I've heard stories of some switching it out (versus ordering a loose one and going to a random jeweler). I just feel like its better to be able to have people like you see the optics and whanot and select it that way. Plus, I feel like a jeweler is more likely to overcharge if they sell it directly.

I think a halo setting in platinum or white gold (budgeting $1k-$2k for that)- possibly a halo with diamonds around the center stone but not on the round ring part- sorry I have no idea what the terminology is for that..lol. I've heard that the color isn't quite as important for a cushion (at least on a budget- not sure if that's true) and that its not that noticeable unless its held up against one with less color. Yeah, I thought that one was really nice, relatively good size too (6.38mm, 6.39mm, 4.30mm). Thanks again everyone!

Thanks so much for the help. Any other opinions on this cushion? I'm basically ready to buy one in the next couple days. I really want my girlfriend to have the perfect one, but I'm in the middle of law school exams and I just don't have much time to search for days and days- I've been with her for about 6 years so I really need to do this soon or I think she's going to kill me (I'm 27). lol. I can get a nicer one once I start working but I'm sure she'll be happy with a cushion (like this one) in a nice halo setting.
