Both were confirmed to be eye clean. Pricing within $500 of each other.

I wouldn't recommend either of these. THe values aren't in the recommended ranges. We do need to see the images or vidoes, but off hand my recommendation is to keep looking

If you have a budget I'm sure we could recommend something.

I wasn't sure if it was a matter of lighting and how the picture was taken or if there is a really poor light return. Diamond is rated as an excellent cut by GIA so I'm not sure why it looks like this other than maybe the lighting or how they took the picture

Excellent is a set of fixed parameters. Within excellent there is a range of performance from "meh" to "exceptional" this here is an example of "meh"

Triple excellent is such a deceptive term. Just because something is rated triple excellent by GIA does not mean it will be a beautiful diamond. If you really want to have a gorgeous diamond the parameters are MUCH more narrow than GIA. What you see visually on this picture is not a trick of bad lighting/camera. This presentation would not be possible in a well cut stone.

Limit your search to the following parameters and you’ll have the truly excellent diamond you’re looking for:

Depth - 60 - 62%
Table - 54- 57%
Crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
Pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees

Crown and pavilion angles should be complementary.

Examples:

If crown angle is 35, pavilion angle should be 40.6.

If crown angle is 34.5, ideal pavillion would be 40.7/40.8

If crown angle is 34.0-34.2 pavilion angle should be 40.9/40.8 ideally.
