Hi all,

I am looking at this ascher diamond from Ritani. It is in my price range of under $1800 Canadian and I would like 3cts. PLease look over the diamond I have attached and let me know if it looks good. The website says it will face up larger than 3ct but I don't know how to trust that.

I should mention, I am open to any shape (I am just partial to the ascher cut), Ideally I want the biggest diamond possible for the money.

Diamond buying is new to me, as I have never bought one myself before. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok well asschers (I have one) really have to be seen in person. This one looks a bit like mine (but mine is a 1.52 and I’m dying at the price of this one— my goodness what I could have done with my budget lol)…. With a sort of larger table and not much crown.

Some people like that and some don’t.

They have a good return policy so if you are willing to put the time in, I’d get it and look at it in person .

I am not sure how returns work, because I am in Canada and duties and taxes are going to be involved. I guess I will have to ask Ritani

I wonder if they can get you a real life video? Like on a hand? Or maybe look at distinctive Gem where John hand pics his.

Agreed. I think working with someone who can show IRL videos will help avoid duties/taxes, etc

Asschers and EC's are hard to judge by video. I don't find the steps of the Asscher very clean or clear but at actual size, it might be totally fine. Two of the stones have small black inclusion/s which unfortunately a step-cut will reflect over and over so it can look like many inclusions. Again, it's tiny so you might not notice it at all in real life.

An emerald cut will look sizeable but a 3 carat Asscher will look like a 2.5 round stone. If you're looking at maximising visual size then the Asscher isn't a good option. I love them but bought mine for the cut, not the face-up size.

Thank you! I want the big factor, so face up size is important to me. The Asscher is out! I have asked Ritani to see if the vendor can take some non magnified photos/videos so I can get a better look at the emerald.
