Advice for cushion with trapezoid side stones

Very happy to have found this forum...I've been researching for a few weeks now and could use some advice. I'm looking for a cushion cut with trapezoid side stones. I'm looking to use a ~2.00 ct center stone (F or G, VVS1-VS2) and ~1.00 cttw side stones. Is there a preferred set of dimensions for the center stone that lend to a better looking setting? As in would a more square cushion vs more rectangular look better than the other? Trying to keep the budget as close to $20k as possible...

I'm sure there are questions I have that I don't even realize I should be asking yet, but I'd be very grateful for any advice!

Thanks!

Welcome! First you choose the center stone. Then usually the ringmaker will source the side stones and get your approval.

I personally think either square or slightly elongated is fine. I can look and see what is available.

Find your cushion first, and then have the longest parallel measurement of the trap be no longer than 1.5mm less the cushion's table length. That typically gives a very nice transition from center stone to side stone. It works whether you choose a square cushion or elongated one.

You will probably need smaller stones than 1/2 carat each. Stones that large will overtake instead of accenting the center stone. And honestly you don't have a budget for a setting with stones that big. Well cut traps are VERY expensive. And no, your budget is not going to be reasonable. Just the stone is going to cost 17k if you stick to F/G VS. And you aren't going to get a quality three stone for 3k with large traps.

You should shoot for a stone no more than 16k. Because that setting is going to cost a LOT of money. You are probably looking at closer to 22k as a realistic budget.

That GOG cushion is a good option.

DO NOT COMPARE CARAT WEIGHT when comparing cushions. COMPARE length and width measurements. OKAY?

Other options: (If there is no ASET posted request one)

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/C201-84Z436475 This is best stone for budget and the ASET is as strong as the GOG one (different formats, but they are comparable) and this one is 2k less!

Thank you everyone for the research and replies!!! As far as the ct weight goes, wouldn't the dimensions increase with ct weight if the stone is cut extremely well? That being said - I see how a 1.95 stone could look bigger than a 2.05 stone for example if the depths are a little different etc. I'm glad that was mentioned, great point.

Aset not necessary...it looks like mush in the middle. What you are looking for is clearly-defined sharp looking facets under the
table.

This one could be worth a look...
