advice for a 0.4 carat diamond

I need your help I am searching for a round white diamond with about 0.4 carat for a proposal ring.
Could you please help me to find a good, sparkling one?
It should be of good quality and still payable (about 1000-1200 $ or a bit more)

no, the budget is available just for the diamond. Actually it's for my sister, but her future husband needs help as well They plan to buy a solitaire platinum ring.

G/H/I/J are all in the ‘near colorless’ range, per GIA.


Personally, I’d be fine with it, but I am also fine with warmer colored diamonds anyway; almost all of mine are below I color. Color is really individual to the wearer. Do you know if the intended recipient has a preference about color, or if there are any cultural preferences to be aware of?

Ich habe über die Jahre viele Diamanten gekauft und es ist finanziell sinnvoller, direkt entweder bei Fortrez in Belgien oder über strikte Parameter bei Bluenile.co.uk zu kaufen.
Wenn du dir einen Diamanten aus den USA schicken lässt, musst zu Einfuhrumsatzsteuer zahlen, das teure Fedex etc... meist ca insg. 30% des Kaufpreises.
FORTREZ Belgien (HPD Retail Partner in Europa) ist da preislich drunter und du kannst im Zweifel zurück senden.
Wenn du den Stein in die USA zurück senden willst , bekommst du die Gebühren nicht oder nur teilweise zurück.

Ich wollte den Diamanten in den USA kaufen, weil ich keine günstigen deutschen / europäischen Händler gefunden hatte. Aber das wäre natürlich viel besser, wenn Zoll & Co nicht anfallen.
Würdet ihr mir helfen, einen schön funkelnden Stein (Farbe F oder G oder evtl. auch H, wenn das noch schön weiß ist), ca. 0,37 - 0,45 ct mit keinen sichtbaren Einschlüssen für ca. 900-1000 € (oder evtl. weniger, wenn möglich) zu finden?
Das wäre sehr nett!

I just wrote that I am surprised that here are Germans. I didn't find a European site so I wanted to buy in the USA. But I would be happy to find a stone on Bluenile. I would like to have color F or G, nice sparkling, no visible inclusions, 0,37 - 0,45 ct and it should cost about 1000 € / 1200 $ or less.

Do you think it's a good choice or could you recommend another diamond on Bluenile with the characteristics mentioned in the post above?

Answering your more general questions: a VS2 should generally be OK (eye clean) inclusion-wise, especially if there are several items listed (vs only one grade setting inclusion)'.
G/H colour should be plenty white in a well cut GIA /AGS graded stone of this size. G or H VS2 is the sweet spot for many PSers.


I'm letting the prosumers with more experience chime in on your specific stone.
It's generally helpful to write the cut specs directly in the post.
Numbers look good to me, though.

Can you buy it via Bluenile.co.uk? And if so, at what price?
If not, how much does b2c charge for international shipping?

I calculated the b2c wire price 870$+35$(min. wire transfer fee or cc fee),~150$ intl.fedex and roughly 30% customs fees and duties and this will land you around 1070€ total for this stone.

@cyberpiv from France broke down the cost of his 0.42 ct j VS2 super ideal CBI diamond from the US very nicely in the thread I linked above.

He ended up paying slightly more (1040€) than the price from Fortrez in Belgium would have been for the same diamond(960€).

I'd give them a call. CBI diamonds are the cream of the crop cut-wise. Better than anything else you can get in Germany ( trust me, I've tried) and pretty much anywhere else. You can buy any CBI pretty much blindly.

Depends where you are in Germany, but you might even go to Antwerp for a weekend trip to have a look yourself. Buying within the EU gives you the opportunity to send the stone back IF you want to, as well.
As I said above, this isn't an option for stones from the US, as you'll lose 2 x ~150$ in shipping only, plus a huge portion of the customs fees...



What about the setting? Usually the US are MUCH more affordable for settings as well....

thank you very much for your help! I have bought a great diamond (at least I hope so with a platimum setting at Bluenile.co.uk for about 1600 €. In Germany such prices are almost impossible to find.
