EFBC5C8C-129C-48D9-8DC1-234166ADA6AF.jpeg Hi! I found a 1.7 ct cushion cut L color I am going to have shipped to a jeweler so I can look at it. The price is perfect for my budget but as I read all your posts about facets, light, mush, and yellowing I’m getting worried because when I look at the picture I don’t see those things that you all are able to see. I really wanted a 1.5 - 2 ct but my budget is definitely on the lower end. So when i saw this one I got really excited!! But also, the GIA report calls it a modified square brilliant?? Is that a cushion? Please help me to see the pros and cons of this Stone to decide if I should go for it!!!
THANK YOU!!!

The link says that the stone has been sold, not sure if you bought it. My advise for you would be to pass on this stone for several reasons:

1. Not sure what your color sensitivity is but this stone will not look white. Cushions show color, so unless that is the look you desire or you are going with an antique cut you will probably want to stay at I or higher.

2. This diamond is not well cut. It has very scattered/crushed ice faceting and a lot of light leakage. The crushed ice faceting on a cushion will give a very splintery disorganized sparkle. It is not as popular because it will not have the same light performance as a well cut 4 or 8 main cushion. It is a personal preference however and there are people that prefer this "flavor" of cushion.

This would be a hard no for me. If the stone is already on it's way to the store, I would still recommend going and taking a look for educational purposes. Get a feel for the color and compare it to some of the other stones in the store to see how the faceting affects sparkle and to gauge your color tolerance. Remember, jewelry store lighting can be deceiving, so try to compare stones close to a window to see natural lighting.

Oh my gosh thank you so much. Yes, the “sold” is for me but it is actually just on reserve until I see it. Your info is so helpful I really appreciate it! I cannot believe how you are able to see those things so well! I wish I could do that. The price was so low it was $4000 - right at our range. Thank you for telling me to take a look at it anyway. I’ve really been struggling with this as we’ve been married 15 years but I’ve only ever had a wedding band. He’s always wanted me to have the diamond and finally purchased a cushion at Jared ( I feel like we were way overpaying there). It was very elongated and they are not able to set it the way I want. So we returned it and have been seeking the perfect stone for me. So frustrating! Thank you so much for your help!!!

Why don't you start a new thread in Rocky Talk outlining your budget and your wishes for a new stone and I am sure PSers can help you find the best bang for your buck.:appl:

Woah!! That does look far more white!!! And it’s my price range!! Thank you so much you guys are great!

I'd put the stone on hold right away!! I just checked a couple of other sites and am not finding anything above 1.5 for less than $4,500 that looks remotely decent.
