Here is the same diamond in better focus.

The separation between the tips of the hearts and the chevron's
beneath them is not sufficient to be considered as a Hearts & Arrows
stone and there is variance in the size and shape of the hearts.

The EGL call seems like a valid one to me.

I think the seperation is merely a focusing issue (but still clearly recognizable as an H&A pattern), and I don't see a variance in the size and shape of the hearts.

I appreciate the religious ferver for the holy grail of perfection, but as there is no proof yet that H&A's means anything other than you see H&A's, I do not see why labs should not take actual photo's of any grade of H&A's and put them on the paper and the web certs too. Then it up to the buyer to decide if it meets his or her expectations for H&A grading.

Consider this:
Why would you buy a perfect H&A's that was less than D Flawless?

I have actually purchased a stone from Abazias and it was quite professional and a most pleasurable experiance. They gave me all the pictures and information I needed to make an initial, albeit lay person decision on a stone. I then had them send the stone to D. Atlas for an appraisal, which was great. Once I actually took possesion of the stone just to put my mind at ease I had another appraisal done from a second local appraiser. He concurred with D. Atlas that it was a great stone. Total cost of the both appraisals was a couple of hundred $$$ and my mind is now at ease. Cost of the stone was in the $40k range. I think the savings on the actual purchase of the stone from Abazias far outweighted the money spent on appraisals. The vendors can tell you anything they want about the stone but the appraiser that's working strictly for you and is unbiased tells the truth about the stone. If there's a problem with the stone then the appraiser can send it back and it's cost very minimal $$$. I am currently in the process of purchasing another stone from Abazias and will probably purchase again and again from them. Tom is great. I had negotiated the price with him and then saw the price lower on PS advertised by a competitor.
I called Tom up and he gave me a lower price than the other person's advertised price. Well come to find out the lower advertised price was a mistake and I saw the stone on PS the following day $1K more. I still have the stone under contract with Tom at the lower price he gave me.
