A WWYD post...

Yenny, how very touching your thoughtfulness is and I just wanted to add my support. You are a lovely, generous, kind and warm person and your friend is lucky to have you in her life. As is the rest of your family.

What a sweet gesture! I like the idea of her son giving it to her, but have a question...she really, really wants a ring? Like an e-ring, right, to replace her lost ring? Perhaps you could give the diamond to her husband, and he could have it reset for their anniversary? Just thinking ahead...if she really wants a ring, she may feel awkward about the pendant - would that be OK with you if she chose to reset it into a ring at a later time? Just thinking out loud...but you are a great friend to be so generous - no matter how it all turns out! =) She will be thrilled!

Ara Ann, I thought about that, but I felt like it was overstepping my bounds to give her a stone with the assumption that her hubby would set it for a ring. I just don't know how that would be received???

Oh, I totally understand your dilemma... Maybe you could ask him what to do and leave it up to him? He may be totally thrilled with the idea of her having a new e-ring and might be fine with choosing the setting for it...or he might feel weird about it. Just explain your situation honestly and see what he says and take it from there. He may even want her to choose what to do with the diamond, to have it reset or keep it in the pendant. But if you ask him directly, then it's all out in the open from the get go! But how exciting for your friend, either way... :)) :appl:

I'm just not comfortable doing that. If it were my sister, sure...but I don't know her hubby nearly as well as I know her and I just think a pendant is less likely to step on toes/hurt any feelings.

Yep... I get it. Again, however it works out, she is going to be thrilled. Keep us posted on how this unfolds!

I will Ara Ann, thanks!....and I plan to tell her that she's more than welcome to set it in a ring if she wants to (after her son gives it to her)...my feelings wouldn't be hurt at all!

Do you feel comfortable approaching her husband?

About the pendant, yes...about a diamond for a ring, no.

Mother's day!

And how about this: Tell the son you will sell it to him for 3 hours help in your yard (or whatever). Then he will feel like he earned it :-)
