A quest for Scintillation, imperfection - Lab Ritani Purchase

During the search for hopefully my last diamond solitaire, I've pondered a lot about finding scintillation among lab diamonds. I like my current diamond due to its scintillation pattern.

I have a mined RB now, which proportions I was set out to mimic.

They were: 55%t/35.0ca/16%ch/40.8pa/

I quickly found out it was difficult to filter by all specifications, particularly crown height. I was definitely drawn to diamonds with a higher crown height than typical, but couldn't find any near the proportions I was looking for WITH a spin video. I also set out to get something different, I wanted an SI lab diamond, to mimic my current stone, and be something I would be getting if it were mined.

All said, I chose one and have been watching it for months. I loved the imperfectness of it. I scooped it up on a large Ritani sale (price matched LGD, + 30% off setting), additionally they agreed to make some custom changes to the setting free of charge! I'm excited for it to arrive, and will post photos once it does.

Here it is if you want to peek.

I was unable to find anything that spoke to me which had the angles of my current rb, but it started to make me wonder how (or where) one can filter lab diamonds by crown height.

I've poked around the forum and read several posts on scintillation, but still don't quite understand what angles one would look for should they be after it. I love knowledge and would welcome any on the matter.

Hi, @WindyRain !
Hope you fall in absolute love with your human grown diamond once you get it!

Crown height is a byproduct of table width and crown facet angles. Generally what i see is the steeper the crown angle and smaller the table width, the taller the crown height.

There are plenty of diamonds with smallish tables (but hard to find under 56% table) and crown angle 36 that works well with 40.5-40.6 degrees.

Thanks everyone! Looking through all these help.

Ritani ring arrived, and it was.... an interesting experience. I had requested WG head with a YG band, but the WG went half way around the ring...

Additionally, the diamond was set SUPER high, higher than I've ever seen. Very interesting. I requested some changes, Ritani happily obliged and I've sent it back, now to wait.

Ritani were once upon a time partners with PS and listed their diamonds and jewels with us.
They were always pleasant to deal with from a B2B basis 8-)

Hope they solve your problem - sounds like Chinese Whispers passed along too many times (did I hear that the CW term is now outlawed? If I offended its because I am a septuagenarian).

Update: Ritani received, fixed AND shipped the ring in less than one day. It was pretty unbelievable. I was a little worried to receive it, but it is much better.

The two tone looks good, the diamond is set lower (still medium-high) but they opened up the tulip head so the diamond sits inside the cup. The ring is quite hefty for its tiny size, and definitely feels meatier compared to a few of my other rings. Much better experience after sending this ring back.

I've been comparing it to my mined triple ex gia and it is quite interesting. This lab diamond was GIA certed as well, F, but to me sideways looks much more like a G, which I am ok with. I think the scintillation is quite similar and overall am happy with it. Pictures and comparison incoming.

Overall, happy with my purchase. If I purchased from Ritani again, I would....
a.) Make sure I got the setting on a wicked sale
b.) Make sure they sent photos before sending the ring
c.) Expect some potential back and forth to make sure its perfect
