This confused me...

.97ct
5.71x5.70x3.77
m-stk

1.01ct
5.57*5.56*3.78
stk

Is it only because of the girdle....should I care?

What shape of diamond cut?? Cause if they are rounds, the girdle thickness isn't the only concern.

Edited to add: Why don't you post as much info as you have on both diamonds. Folks here will be more than glad to help.

I'm guessing these are Princess cuts. Post the table, depth, crown height, pavillion, as much info as you have.

You can also use the DIY Cut Grading System at www.gemappraisers.com to grade the quality of the make yourself and look at the Cut Grading Charts.

The 0.97 stone is bigger because it has small depth, as a result bigger area(length to width). The 1.01 stone has a lot of weight hidden in the pavilion. But don''t get me wrong, based on numbers, it is recommended that you buy a asscher with a high 60s or low 70s depth to get a beautiful stone.

I''m not an asscher expert by any means, so maybe I am missing something basic, but this doesn''t make sense to me. The weight has to be in either the depth, the girdle or the spread. I would double check that the numbers you have are correct. It sounds as if there might be an error -- most likely in the first stone''s diameter.

I really like the first one. It is EX polish and VG symm. Its a E VS2 that I could get for around 4700. Recommend it?

Clif, the price your quoted for an 1 carat asscher is really low. The forum would like to know more numbers on the stone. Ask for a sarin report on the stone to know the crown/pavilion angles. Mainly, I would like to know whether the stone has any sort of flourescence. Can you post more details?

the overall specs

1.01ct
5.57 x 5.56 x 3.78
E VS2
VG Symmetry
EX Polish
Girdle- STK
Culet- non
Flour- non
Depth 68
Table 57

This seemed like a good deal to me. I plan to buy it soon.

need crown hight info and pictures.
Judging an asscher is 99.9% eyeballs the numbers will get you within a mile but thats about it.
Iv posted my opinion on what to look for in asschers bout a hundred times lately read some of the other asscher threads here.

thanks for the info...I will do what I can to get a pic and sarin report
