A friend of mine at work brought in her great aunt''s engagement ring so I had to bring in my camera and get a few pictures of it to share. She said they got married in 1899 in New York. She also has a gold band that was the wedding ring. It''s very white and sparkly.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhh, that is so cool! I am at a loss for words. It is so graceful and elegant! Your friend truly has a treasure in that heirloom.
Thank you Circe, Thing2of2 and 4ever. She thought of having it mounted in a more updated ring but decided to leave it in this setting. The shank is thin so she is going to to get a thicker shank put on it. What a treasure to have though.
Thank you Monnie and Mrs W. I suggested she soak it in some warm water with Dawn and use a soft brush to clean it and it really make a difference. It looks like it has been well taken care of and treasured over the years. My friend''s mom had it before passing it on to her.
That is simply beeeauuuuty-ful! I''m really starting to get into antique cuts & settings these days. Thanks for satisfying my drooling needs for the day.
That is one of the most gorgeous antique rings I''ve ever seen. The mounting is still perfect and that stone is TDF!! I hope she leaves it in the original setting. It would be a shame to destroy such beautiful craftsmanship.
Thanks for thinking of the PSers, Marcy!
