A 2.8ct OEC, how easy to find....

the ring I see linked is 14.4k - not 7k.

as far as if 2.8ct OECs are common - probably not in the exact specs of this ring/center stone, but slightly smaller in size and higher in color are around. And if you have a budget in mind and general specs, some of the vendors like Old World Diamonds will have access to inventory not shown on the site. It does seem like a nice ring for the money, but it sounds like maybe it's not the right time.

Yes Harpertoo it is double of what he thinks is overpriced   Oh well......

I will have to be patient (Which i am struggling with, as i know this is an awesome ring and i haven't seen any around that i love like this one)...

But it is good to know that there would possibly be some others out there like this one!!

I think the pricing it probably low because I think that was a consignment piece formally owned by a PSer. But, JbG usually has good pricing, and while you won't be able to find that exact ring when you are ready, you will find something else you love equally!

omg it sold!! it's a glorious ring. a few of us ps-ers saw it irl at our gtg... that reminds me, i have a video clip of it that i've been waiting to post on instagram ;) i think it'll be tmrw's post!

is it just the diamond you're seeking? you can always set price parameters to vendors and ask them to keep an eye out? but a 2.8ct being under 7k sounds like it'll be a far stretch :knockout: unfortunately. otherwise, i think we'd all own 2.8-ers!! a few!! :sun:

I have had my eye on this beauty for a few months so am glad it found a home. I couldn't wrap my head around the enhancement on it though and since I do not (and most likely never will) have a diamond ring collection knew it wasn't for me. But it certainly is a beautiful ring and looks great in the gold setting.

IT SOLD! :o :( I bet the person who brought it will love it!! Shucks!

Madelise- I meant to say i found a 2ct for $7990, but i loved the 2.8 way more... More ct.'s :Up_to_something:

Ming- What enchancement?

Dreamer_D- I suppose the pricing is good as well because it is preloved too... I sure do hope i can source something like this when the time comes! I will have to take not of the dimensions and other stats and put it in the book for next time :D

It didn't have any enhancements.

It wasn't enhanced but I think the poster might be confusing it with another ring for sale by a different P/S member that has been enhanced which is pretty as well...

Have you seen an O-P color diamond? I'll tell you, I could not go that low unless I was going down to WX/YZ or fancy light yellow to go for a yellow. Many diamonds are going to be a little dingy looking in the really low colors before light yellow. I'd be sure of your color tolerance before getting your heart set on a particular stone.

I'm the PSer that previously owned this ring -- and it was indeed glorious! The stone has such personality and fire (no enhancements needed!).

It was more than a little hard to let it go, actually.

BUT the upside is that we traded it towards an equally lovely upgrade stone (stay tuned for pics in the coming days) :wink2: :cheeky: :naughty:

Here's hoping this ring went to another PSer who will post lots of photos!

Ganesha- You have wonderful taste!!!

And no i haven't seen a O-P coloured diamond..... I do like the look of warmer coloured diamonds though, especially old school cut ones :D

Oh, so sorry.
They looked similar to my untrained eye. I love both of them but this one was a great deal!

Ganesha, you are killing me

Can't wait to see how you set Honker, the Sequel!

I love you, DS, but I would like to disagree... I have an O-P (or two :naughty: ) and they're not 'dingy' at all. They're not as white, sure, but that's a given. I had to confirm the exact definition of 'dingy', and my warmer diamonds (and this old Ganesha diamond) sure aren't gloomy or drab!!!

They are absolutely stunning!!!

Grace, did my DH tell you that we actually *did* nickname the last stone "The Honker"? So "Honker, the Sequel" is quite funny!
This time around, though, I've decided I want to give our stone a prettier, more old-fashioned name to honor her history and beauty (and not just her size! :Up_to_something: ). I'm thinking we'll name her Aster. ::) And we're still working on a setting... feeling a little indecisive. But will post photos of the loose stone soon!

Madelise, agreed! Would love to see the vid you shot at the GTG, but not sure how to find you on Instagram? The pics you posted to the GTG thread were yummy!

ooo~Shiney -- gorgeous earrings!

Aaaand here's one last parting shot of my former O/P OEC, which was very bright and lively, always shooting back such gorgeous pastel colors (even in gloomy subway lighting, as seen here).

Oh! Madelise !!! My Heart !!! Such a lovely photo of a beautiful diamond

I admit I love my whiter stones, but the lower color gals have really captivated me and the
fireworks thrown off by them along with the pastels .... So Pretty !!!

   i just love all them pics!! See i think diamonds have character when they are lower coloured, i see the beauty where as some might not like that :D

Ganesha - you must spill about this new "Honker" you have!

Gorgeous ring, madelise! And thanks for the directions to your instagram – fun to see new photos of my old ring, and all your other lovely pics!

Bella – OK, I'll spill

We traded the 2.8ct OEC "Honker" for an absolutely gorgeous 4.3ct Antique Cushion from Grace. I felt she deserved a regal name, and "Aster" seems fitting for a few reasons — it derives from the Ancient Greek word for 'star', and also because aster flowers come in such a variety of gorgeous colors (the colors this stone throws off are amazing — here's a sneak peek from a recent photo session with my DSLR...)

Did you see which actress was interested? :wink2: I didn't even know who it was til I clicked her profile.. and I watch one of her shows!!!

That. is. phenomenal.

Holy sh!* Aster is devine!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I just can't fathom owning something so awesome :D (some may disagree with me where my "interests" lay  Lucky we've got pricescope!!)

So what are you thinking for the setting?

HOLY SMOKES. That photo is just stunning!!!

Im happy to retire "Honker: The Sequel" as its rapper name. Aster is VERY fitting :)

Can't wait to see your thread :appl: :appl:

madelise, someone with the same screen name inquired in my PS Preloved thread. I did just click through to her Instagram profile, but her photo is tiny and I'm hopeless with pop culture references! I'll have to take your word for it that she's a famous actress — in any case, that's pretty cool :sun:

Bella and Grace, thank you! More photos to come, I promise! These last few days have been busy...

As far as a setting goes, I'm all over the map... one day I want a simple rose gold solitaire with a hint of vintage, and the next day I'm ready to halo! :twirl: Anyhow, we just dropped Aster off to get certed, so I've got at least another week to think (read: obsess) about it... :wink2:

Wrong poster, Ganesha :) Swtnsexy is a PSer.
