.9ish-1 carat OEC or AVR. Is it worth it to pay more?

Hello everyone! My e-ring is a 2 carat MRB in an emilya halo by VC. I find it's a little too large and delicate for work (I am a teacher.) I love it and wear it out often, but for day to day, I'd like something a little smaller. I am looking for an OEC/AVR at about the 1 carat mark. My budget for the stone is max $5000, and I would LOVE to spend less. I am fine with lower colors in an antique cut, and I don't care if it's S1 or S2 if it's eye clean. I found this one, which seems to be a great deal:

I am wondering if I will REALLY notice the difference in a .9 instead of one carat? Would you pay more for .2 mm or so of extra coverage in going from a .9 to one carat? My fingers are small- 4.5. I am looking for about 8mm worth of coverage at the most WITH the setting.

Your hands are small, you want to save money. I really think the .9 ct is the way to go. On the hand there is barely a difference, and on your hand a stone will already seen larger than your average bear.

I think that avr with a simple plain shank halo would be lovely. With an airline of diamonds, or maybe a bezel of rubies? Or sapphires?

Well, I think the AVR is so lovely and a nice deal. I am biased, as I own and adore an AVR. The pretty, crisp, symmetrical facets and plump crown just make me happy. The 'L' is lovely, as well. I think you should choose the one that makes you happy.

If it were me, I would put the AVR in the CVB octagonal halo, which is, in my opinion, a spectacular work of art.

Done. Fantastic. An heirloom. And, while also a halo, a completely different flavor than your MRB in VC.

I would try to negotiate the price a little. I would ask if they'll consider a discount if you get the setting though them as well.

It is the most expensive diamond. I really think it's just stunning though.
