9 point stones... where to buy and how much?

Does anyone have a sense of where smaller stones could be bought loose and a ballpark idea of prices? I''m specifically interested in well cut 9 or 10 pointers of around G/SI quality. Most of the online retailers don''t seem to sell stones that are smaller than 20 points.

Those are considered melee diamonds and most jewellers who make the ring will supply the stones when you custom make your ring. They just don't make money selling loose melee to the public.

OK. Is there then any way to find out what is a reasonable price to pay for them if you are having a ring made? Just shop around?

Shop around, I guess. If you browse through www.signedpieces.com you''ll get a general idea of the cost of the melees and labor (once you minus the sky high platinum prices today).

at one time Wink used to sell the small melee, but don''t know if he still does. you might check with him though.

GOG sourced a bunch of small stones/melee for StarSpun for a Green Lake custom job; you can try them.
