I am trying to find a good diamond in the 3-3.5k range. I would like to find something .8 or larger. I like the diamond linked above but it is listed as H&A but the Hearts view shows a heart with some chips in it. Is this listed wrong or is it more likely that the picture is wrong.

In addition, i was looking at rocks the other day on pricescope and there were quite a few more in my price range. Is there a time during the week when certain sites update their inventory or is there just very little in my range for this size stone.

What about this one>>> http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2710/ the things you see are inclusions in the other stone you linked.

You can search using this http://www.pricescope.com/sift.aspx select excellent excellent for cut.

Hi! Welcome to PS!

What about this one? It is just under .80 but providing it is eye-clean it may be a great option for you. If you check with Whiteflash, they will tell you for certain.

0.76 H SI1, A Cut Above, $2,729 (PS discount/bankwire price)

The size difference bn/ 0.76 and 0.80 is negligible.

** eta ** I think that many of these vendors are presently in the process of replenishing their stock. I'm sure if you are able to wait for another week or so, there should be many more diamonds from which to select.

I've been using https://www.pricescope.com/sift.aspx to look.

I already have the setting (an antique that was my grandmothers) and went to a jeweler and looked at a ton of stones with it. .8 (and a .8 that had a really solid spread) was the bare minumum that looked decent.

As for the other stone, I don't handle color really well. I could barely handle "H" and would prefer something "G" or better.

I have found quite a few on Whiteflash but none seem to be in house so I can't see the reports et al. Is there anywhere else I should look that is not included in the pricescope search?

One that I had looked at on Whiteflash:

Have you tried contacting Whiteflash or Good Old Gold directly and informing them of your specs and asking them to find something for your and provide you with pics? If you let them know that you are interested in that stone you posted, I''m sure that they will bring it in for you and take pics & post more info etc. Since it is exactly what you are looking for and within your price range, it may well be worth it.

Re: the first stone you posted - those are not "chips," they are reflections of internal inclusions in the stone. From the top-down, magnified view, it looks like the diamond should be totally eye-clean. Why not call and ask to be sure it is eye-clean, and then you''ve got your stone. The inclusions have no bearing on the cut quality of the stone, and if they''re not visible to your eye, you''re golden. I''ve got an H, SI1, .818, and it''s beautiful. I think you''d like that one, so please do call and inquire about its eyecleanliness.

There are no chips in the GOG stone. THey are inclusions. Very nice stone.

The ACA is nice, too.

PS database is updated 2x a week, saturday and wednesday, I think.

You've already got some of the world's top-cut stones in front of you, meeting your specs; I wouldn't call for more info on other stones on a list unless you're looking for a deal.

Isn't everybody looking for a deal?

I am going to have to call on the ACA anyway as it is a SI1 and I want to make sure it is eye clean. This is also a concern with the GOG diamond since the inclusions are so prevelant on the hearts scan.

If neither of those is eye clean I will probably start calling about the others starting with

I really just want to make the right choice.

It depends on what you want. You can make this really easy by picking an ACA from Whiteflash which are consistently top performing cream of the crop diamonds, and an easy choice if you want a superbly cut branded diamond. Same with Good old Gold H&A diamonds. As long as you get a thumbs up for eyecleanliness according to your preference and your vendor, and you have picked the colour and clarity you want, then you can''t go wrong!

If you want a non branded, non H&A diamond that is an excellent performer, then that may need some more searching for, but not too much I wouldn''t have thought. Also regarding any deals, diamonds online are about the best price you will find.

HTH!

Those are magnified photos. One should never base an opinion on eyecleanliness, or lack of, on them. You need someone to actually look at the stone.

That stone may very well be totally eyeclean, and it''s gorgeous.
