I was trying on shared prong bands yesterday and was only able to try five stone bands. They were beautiful but because of my chubby fingers I really need seven stones. I would be looking for 7 20 pointers and I wondered if anyone has anything like that to show me; particularly next to a solitaire engagement ring.

Many thanks

Samatha, I don''t know of any 20 point seven stone bands off hand, but I will tell you that if you go with 20 pointers, the band likely will stick out farther than the e-ring band. If you look at Care Bear''s new thread on her new eternity band, she says she usually does not wear it with her e-ring because it sticks out a lot farther than the e-ring band. My preference is for the rings to appear to be the same width when looking down at the rings. But that is just personal preference, and it may not bother you.

Samantha, this is how I approximated what size stones I needed to make up my seven stone shared prong band. Lay you hand down on your desk in front of you. Take a piece of something flexible like ribbon and lay it over your ring finger from where your ring finger meets your pinky to where your ring finger meets your middle finger. Mark it, cut it and measure it with the mm side of a regular ruler. Now you have your mm measurement from one edge to the other edge of where your fingers come together. Subtract a 1/2 mm for the space between each stone (from a seven stone, approx. 3mm) and divide that remaining measurement by seven and that''s the size stones you''ll need (in mm.) to make a seven stone band and have it cover the top of you whole finger.

This was the result for me. My ring is a size 6 and I needed seven 3mm stones (10 pointers) to cover my finger from edge to edge.

I didn''t want to feel the pinch of either prongs or diamonds.

My wedding ring is a 7 stone shared prong band and each diamond is 18 points, so pretty close to what you are looking for. Just for reference, my ring size is a 4.5 and my e-ring diamond is 1.19. Sorry the pics aren''t great, it''s so hard to get a good shot.

Rosie, that is so beautiful and exactly what I am looking for, thank you. My ring size is about six/seven but I think it will give me the coverage I want.

I have a five stone with 20 pointers on a 4.5 size finger. It doesn't stick out on the sides and gives good coverage.
