They have a clip up online from the today show now where the dad explains away again
and how lovely that they made their barfing son be on tv at what was probably 5am our time. he didn't even say anything, they should have just let him stay in bed...

Oh look.
The family made a rap video.
Read the opening lines and listen closely to the "lyrics".

I saw this one. I mean, come on...you put your kid up to this huge hoax, then you make him be on tv while vomiting? Some parents...

why did the boy only get sick when asked that particular question (about why he said he hid b/c his parents told him to "do it for the show")?

If anyone is interested, the denverpost has the 911 call the parents made...after the balloon had been missing for 20 minutes

Both my hubby and I think this smells terribly of a hoax...

It is unfortunate the way some people manipulate and deceive, especially when they get children involved.

shocking and disappointing. Some people are extremely desperate.

Has anyone questioned why these kids weren''t in school? Are they home schooled?

Lanie- the school had a teacher/staff day, none of the kids in that area had school that day...

If this is proven to be a hoax, well, I just don''t know what to say. When I saw the image yesterday of the object falling from the balloon, thinking this might be the little boy dropping to his death, I burst into tears for this family and that precious little boy. If their deception had such an impact on a complete stranger, I can only imagine the trauma their antics have caused their children and the family''s loved ones. Surely there were grandparents, friends, neighbors, aunts, uncles and cousins all devastated for the duration of this search. Not to mention the resources involved, at the taxpayers'' expense.

There''s no excuse and IF the parents put the kids up to it, I hope they are punished to the full extent of the law. I''m furious at the thought that this could have been a hoax.

If its a hoax, I think social services should take those kids away from the parents.

I had this same thought...especially if the dad put the child up to hiding too! That is sick and twisted.

Exactly. As a mom myself, it just sickens me the though that they could put their child up to this and parade him (and the others) on TV. I saw that CNN clip and it so looked like the parents were caught. 6 year olds are like little truth tellers and I really think the boy let it slip that it was a hoax.

Yup, totally agree...

Also heard that the Dad was shopping for a reality TV series....

The other thing, why did they put the kid on TV while he''s vomiting?? Who does that???

The thing that struck me about this is that the mom had a plastic container ready to catch the throw up. I picked up on this because in my house when one of my kids is sick (and right now 3 have the H1N1 flu) I give the kids each what I call a "throw up bucket" which is just a plastic container in case they can''t make it to the toilet to throw up in.

So, the fact that the mom had a container handy and ready to catch throw up, says to me they were expecting it and they put him on TV anyway? Horrible horrible parenting.

I think unless you have had a sick child and needed to be prepared to catch throw up you might not have caught that but I definately noticed it.

This is really disturbing. If this was a HOAX - denver police, and all related search parties should hit them with the bill. Wasn''t the helicopter 14K? That might make them think twice about wasting public money - and time.

Also, I think that if this kid was throwing up for publicity, social services should be called - and really look into the children''s well being.

I don't think he was throwing up for publicity. I think he was either really sick and they dragged him on TV anyway OR he felt sick for being forced to lie and that made him sick.

And I agree, if its a hoax they should be made to pay the bill in full.

One other thing... The video of the Dad and Mom were there when the balloon took off. There was no basket on that saucer... No place for the kid to crawl into...

So we follow this for hours with our hearts in our hands....

Remember we heard that the parents were inside and the little boy ran inside to tell his parents the balloon took off with his brother???

And the parents weren''t inside, rather filming this for a video???

I pray those kids get proper care, and don''t have to chase after Hurricanes and Tornados... I can''t imagine!!!!

He calls 911 20 minutes after the fact??

Supposedly calls the FAA first?? I want to see if he actually made that call...

Second call was to the TV station hoping to have the TV stations helicopter trace the movement of the balloon...

911 was his 3rd call... Not his first....

I dunno, it''s all so strange and it''s making me feel sick to my stomach now....

so apparently they will be filing criminal charges against this family, so sounds like the police now believe it was a hoax. Unbelievable!!!

Excellent

Charges expected in Colorado balloon case

(CNN) -- Authorities in Colorado say criminal charges are expected to be filed against Richard Heene, a storm-chasing father whose giant Mylar balloon ascended into the sky earlier this week -- sparking fears that his 6-year-old was aboard

"We anticipate criminal charges will be filed sometime in the near future," Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told CNN.

Apparently the family pitched a series idea to TLC a few months back...

Gosh, I feel awful for those kids.

The place where the balloon landed was farmland, and according to TMZ the emergency responders ruined the crop. It makes me sad that so many people in this world seem to hatch get rich quick or get famous quick schemes without think about the others it could hurt.

Well...looks like the dad has gotten the publicity he was so eager to find! Did he REALLY think he could pull this off!?!? Like a 6 year old kid isn''t going to blow his cover? Unreal. These kids need to be removed from that house...the mother is no better than the father, IMO, since she was in on it too. Ugh.

Sheriff just concluded a press conference.
He mentioned felony charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Two wife beating 911 calls from Feb and August 2009 are being investigated.
People from the battered women shelter counseled the wife in private but she elected to return home with her husband.

The guy has a temper.
Child protective services is investigating to see if the children should be removed.

He is not a real scientist.
He only has a high school education and lays tile for an income.

They have evidence at least one media outlet may have been in on the hoax and money may have or may still be paid to him for this.

Charges have not been filed yet.
The parents are free and still have their 3 boys, as of now.

Can you imagine how Falcon feels right now?
Can you imagine what the father is doing to him, physically or emotionally, right now?

Even if he breaks free of this poison home he will be known as Balloon Boy forever.

I agree, poor child. My yougest will be 6 in a few weeks and I have a 7 year old as well and I can say for sure the child is NOT responsible for his actions here. Children that age are very very much under the influence of their parents. Especially in the case of Falcoln, I"m sure he fears his dad and sees the abuse towards his mom which makes him even more fearful.

I do think that the only way for him and the other kids to have a chance of having a normal healthy life is to get them away from the father.

I do think the mom helped contribute, but for now, I"m giving her the benifit of the doubt because really think she was battered. But I never saw wife swap, I don''t watch that show. However, the effects of being a battered woman are far more reaching than most peoople realize. The wife to me looked very fearful of him and I can only imagine the hell she faces being married to such a controlling manipulative man.

What a toxic toxic environment for those kids.

So bizarre! I just can''t imagine what kind of greed and "celebrity" envy drives parents to engage in unfathomable acts involving their own children. So pitiful and selfish.

hopefully this shows that not all publicity is good publicity. In general it is (sadly in this country, you can be successful and rich for nothing but bad behavior), but not once it crosses into illegal terrirtory. These parents are quite pathetic.

Well this didn''t take long.

Those are my exact thoughts and add sick to the list!!! It is good they are looking into the welfare of the children and that the town is going for felony charges against the parents.
