was it a news channel?

They''re showing another angle on CNN.

This is so sad ... Does not sound good the longer he is missing.

How was he able to untie this and be in the bottom of the ballon at the same time? I wonder if one of his brothers helped him?? I can believe a six year old would be curious about this , not realizing the danger involved

The parents are at fault to allow the ballon to be this accessible to the children.. How dreadful

Here''s the screencap from CNN...

My prayers go out to the boy and his family.

I was so shocked to see this is the family that was featured on WifeSwap. I'll never forget that episode because it was all about safety and both families featured were on opposite extremes. The Heene family was matched up with a safety first kind of family on the show. They often berated the other family for being so strict with safety rules and told them that kids should roam free. The other family was shocked that the Heenes had rusty blades lying around and took small children along their tornado chasing adventures. It was a show about extremes and it still sticks out in my mind. Seeing this story, I'm haunted by the family dad that said something to the effect of, "Sure, safety rules are not fun for kids. Families will say well, nothing happened to my kids and I didn't have safety rules. But tell that to the parents who lost a child because they didn't have a fence around their pool. It's to prevent tragedy." Now having seen that episode, it really hits home. I feel sick with worry for them! So awful. Unimaginable.

Just really really sad. I pray that the child is found safe. So sad.

Let's send positive thoughts their way... Maybe he's just hiding somewhere.

I want to know, why didn''t we see the basket from the get go?? Gosh I am hoping he''s ok. This story has had every twist and turn as that damn balloon. I am praying for good news, sigh...

But I can tell ya what... Home experiments like this??? Going to be outlawed for sure.....

If they built it to never be a vehicle for flight, then why put on a passenger basket... Even though the basket wasn''t worthy of carrying passengers...

Explain that to me...

I actually read in one news story with an interview with their neighbor that the balloon was only intended to float 20 feet in the air. Obviously a serious misjudgement. If this is the case and they told their kids this I can see why the little boy didn''t think there was any danger if he didn''t think it would actually float away...

Apparently he's been found alive. If it's true, thank goodness.

ETA: Confirmed on CNN.

Where did you read he''d been found? I don''t see it anywhere?

Just heard it on the news. Found alive at HOME.

Thank goodness he's okay.

ETA: Saw it on HLN.

He's alive and was AT HOME!!!!

ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if child services is called in, considering how many times the father has taken the kids storm chasing.

Yeah, CNN just reported he''s alive! Thank God!!!

It could''ve been so much worse. NO word on how he was found yet...

Looks like he may have been hiding all along. Was found in the attic above the garage.

Looks like Smurfy was right! He was hiding out in the attic or garage at his family''s house!!

Ha! I told you 6 year old boys can hide for a long time! I have 2 sons and know how that goes!

So relieved he is SAFE! That''s the most important thing!

Glad to hear the boy is safe. Hopefully they''ll figure out how this miscommunication turned into a media circus!

He's in deep poo poo now. [or he should be]

Neil Cavuto did say that they should check "under the bed". He was right!

SO relieved that he was found safe. I''ve had a knot in the pit of my stomach all day thinking about this kid!

i told you guys he was hiding! As it turns out, 6 year old kids can hide for hours on end

My reaction would be "Thank God you are OK!" then it would be "Now I am going to "kill" you myself!"

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe the punishment should be to send him up hanging on another balloon.

Oh, and how about paying the bill for the Denver commercial flights that were diverted and all the police and EMT bills?

They seem to be a wild and crazy family; I just home this was not a hoax for publicity.

just got home and saw the news,...SMURFY got it right, and wow was I wrong! Thankfully so though! I guess 6 yr old boys CAN hide really and for very long..

still find it a strange story though!

I want to hear from the brother that ran to his parents and said Falcon is up in the ballooon.. Seems to me, this kid has some answering to do.

Again, I am beyond thrilled he''s ok.

As a parent, I was watching this with a huge pit in my stomach, as I am sure the rest of the nation watched the video of that balloon with terror in their hearts.

I hope this family learns a great lesson from this.

I am sure wel will hear a lot more, but bottom line, he''s ok... Phew on that!!!!!

Wow, John and Kate must be livid. A day without the attention on them

This isn't about the kids. It's about the parents. I'm pretty convinced that they are the ones who set up this whole charade. Did you see the CNN interview? The kid's dad asks him why he didn't come out when he heard people calling his name and he responded with "You guys said we did this for the show". Then there is a short awkward silence before the mom goes "no....." and the dad goes "Man...".
I really hope they investigate this further!!!!!

Wow, AFAIC what that boy said and especially how his father squirmed, blithered and BSd trying to cover for what the boy said is proof that this was a hoax set up by the parents.

I really hope they have to pay back the tax dollars spent when all the agencies responded to this.
I hear even commercial flights at that huge Denver airport had to be diverted.

Unfortunately I predict they'll get away with this, in fact they'll probably get rich and famous because of it.

Oh, man. Busted!

i thought something didn''t make sense...

saw the LKL clip, very suspect..

An article for those who are late to the story, like me: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/16/colorado.balloon.boy/index.html

It seems like a hoax to me. Wife Swap didn''t get them famous so they''re trying another method. Why wouldn''t you check your attic before getting the National Guard involved??!!

I, too, hope they have to pay the taxpayers back for all that was wasted. And thank goodness none of the resuers were injured (at least none that I''ve read).

Yeah, no kidding! It was a helium balloon without a basket, at least no basket when I tuned in. If he was *in* there, he'd probably have asphyxiated in no time flat. If he'd fallen off from any significant height, then he'd have been seriously injured and also maybe impossible to find. I didn't see any possible happy ending to the story.
I could not understand, though, why the police and rescue squad were lallygagging around for so long when the balloon landed. Did they already suspect that the kid wasn't there?
I hope the parents get a huge, huge fine to pay if they put the kids up to it. I'm grateful that my parents didn't give me a name like Falcon, lol.
