I am looking for opinions here! I am buying a 5 stone diamond platinum anniv. band and am really trying to get the ''wow'' factor! The one I am looking at is 5 .4 diamonds. They are G, VS1. My husband thinks the stones are too small! Lucky me! This is for our 10 yr. anniv. and it it something I really don''t ever want to upgrade. I also have no interest in upgrading my wedding ring. My questions is...would going up to a 2.5-3 carat total weight be too much on a anniv. band? I really like the 5 stone look, I don''t want the 3 stone ring. Also, has anyone ever seen a 4 stone ring?? I want my husband to love this ring as well, and he thinks the the stones being .4 ea. just doesn''t have the oomph! Any opinions out there would be greatly appreciated!! For what it is worth, the ring is priced at $7000.00 What do you experts think??

Hi. What a gift! I have a 4 stone band in platinum that I LOVE...it gets a compliment from evry woman who sees it.... It is 4 rb stones, tw = 2.56 cts (eachs tone is almost 60 pts), F-G, VS2. My photography is not great but it'll give you an idea.

I also have a 7-stone band in platinum, tw = 1 .1 ct that I wear with it.

Have fun! Good luck!

There was a four stone ring in a post around here.. I loved it! The look is certainly unique. However, a jeweler should be able to fit thos 0.4s in your band. At worst, he may have to customize it, but there is no reason why it should not be feasible. Would I say that diamonds are ever toooo big? NO! There is one detail that may make your ring a good flash light replacement: get thoise little rocks in ideal cuts.... The price is not a ripoff and the visual difference more than rewarding, especially in smaller diamonds like these.
There are a handfull of sellers who could do this, but Whiteflash is a good point to start because they speciaize somewhat in ideal-cut accent stones and could provide the whole line-up for you

. Otherwise, even if the idea to buy the diamond separately from an online shop sound completely CRAZY, I would at least try to see what is this all about. Really, the difference between the object you should end up with (custom band with 5 0.4 H&A-s) versus the commercial thing should be huge!

One more compliment!!!

PS: this is the one I mentioned in the previous post, of course. THERE IS NO OTHER LIKE IT THAT I KNOW OF!!!!!!

Here is a picture of the 4-stone with my original ering diamonds (I had them reset in platinum recently....very sentimental and I won't upgrade center stone although a bigger diamond would look better).

The 4-stone's band has great detailed carving that is hard to see...

The price... well, the best cut diamonds from the above-mentioned vendor are about 1.1k each.. so 5.5 k for stones which leaves room for a mounting. So, the ready-made version is priced closely to what I had in mind.

Hope this helps!

One more picture...I LOVE this ring and am loving posting about it!

Thanks for the compliment, Valeria!

It really does get a lot of attention. It was just sitting in my jeweler's case one day when I walked in...I don't think I ever would have thought of this on my own.

Jennifer-Thanks so much! Now, you have me really thinking about the 4-stone! My husband actually put a deposit down yesterday on the 5 stone ring and they are sending it out on Monday for sizing! So, I need to decide and get in there before they send it out! The 5 stone looks beautiful, but I do think I want a little more in total weight, and do you think adding more to the 5 stone would make it too bulky? Also, the diamonds aren't channel set, yet they are not raised up like yours. I am wondering if setting them like your would also make them look larger? What do you think?? Does anyone have any ideas if switching to a 4 diamond like yours would add a ton of money?? Thanks again! Lisa

There is alot of space between the diamonds in the 4-stone band... With five stone in place, that will have to dissapear, or there will be no room for the stones. What makes diamonds bigger really is a personal impression, but alot of metal (as in many of prongs showing) is not the best way to show alot of diamond. Did you consider a 'shared' prong model, for example?

Hi, Lisa... You are welcome--thanks for the opportunity for me to show off my ring!

You know, I walked into the jeweler's one day and there it was--not a lot of thought went into it except "WOW--I MUST have it." I love wedding bands--I think they are so beautiful, all kinds...I actually have 5 currently, all different metals and configurations, and I am having a 6.24 ct princess eternity band, F, VS1, made right now... I just tried on the platinum casting last week.

This is a unique band--the stones are set a little apart...I guess you could say it looks weird, but there is soemthng very different about it and the high settings and space show off each stone wonderfully... 5 stones would be gorgeous but valeria is right in that it would be total, wall-to wall, dimaonds on the finger--hey, not a bad thing!! It's up to you...My stupid camera's batteries are charging or I'd post a picture of one of my other bands--a 6 stone custom-made for me (he had the 5 stone version in the case and I wanted wall-to-wall across the finger)..they are 6, .33 ct stones, tw =2 cts in yellow gold...F-G, VS1-2. It's really pretty. I also get a lot of compliments on that one too. The 5 1/2 ct stones would give you the same look, I think...

I better never get divorced (God forbid!!) becasue I keep seeing wedding bands I love... just when i think I have enough, there is another one.... So, you could drive yourself nuts with all the beautiful styles out there... Just try to find domehtng that resonates in your "gut", get it made and enjoy it....then in a year, get another one!

Does anyone have any photos of a 5 stone anniv. ring with ea. stone being between .5-.6? Would it be too much?? The one I am currently looking at does have the shared prongs, which I like. I am just trying to decide if I want to increase the diamonds a little, or go to a 4 stone (.6) ea. Pictures would be so great if anyone has any! Can't find many 5 stone photos online in anything larger than a 1 carat total weight!

Try precissionset.com and jbstar.com (this model should have stones that big).

This is it!

And there are many more relevant choices (different weights) at the same source on the neighboring pages...

Valeria-Thank you! That was exactly what I was looking for!! Now, the big question is...do you think it would look to bulky? Or is that a stupid question?? Also, since I won't be able to probably see one in person..I'd have to order it and that makes me nervous! Being obligated to buy something before wearing it! Finally any opinion on the difference in looks and price for a 5 stone weighing 2.6, or a 4 stone weighing approx. the same? Thanks again...I am so excited that I am getting this new beautiful ring, I was want to make sure that I get exactly what I want..and I want the Ooohhh factor!! Thanks! This forum is great!

WOW...I printed that 5-stone out for future reference. It's fabulous.

I have a 3.5 size finger and nothing looks too bulky for me! This is such a personal thing... The 'bulk, I guess, depends on the width of the ring (and 6mm cannot be all that much) and hight which can be very little over the depth of the diamonds, depending on the setting. In this case, your ring can be about 6mm wide and 5-6mm high. This is not at all much. These apply to both options: of course, the four stone would be both wider and deeper thanthe 5 stone. Depending on your finger size, both options should cover the top of the ring. This, I guess is the strongest concern: if the difference between the sum length of the stones and the width of the ring is too large, than the jeweler will have to modify the shape of the ring and, possibly, the rezult may be a flatter ring top rather than having the tables of the diamonds follow the courve of the ring. But these are technical details which you will have to bring up to the maker of the ring...

Would you consider those little H&As?

This is a great project! Best of luck!

Here is the Vatche Truffle with 2.5 ctw...
