I am looking for a round diamond for a white gold setting engagement ring. Max budget for a diamond is $18,000. It appears from my research that Whiteflash and Brian Gavin have the best cuts, but the ones from Blue Nile and James Allen appear to be good value, at least to me. How do these look to you guys?

I hope this post isn't obnoxious because it's not helpful regarding what you posted or even what you were asking about...so just ignore if annoyed! But I would drop down to an I-J with Whiteflash....you can either stay the same size range and save a lot of money or get a 2 ct for under 18k. I have a J that is SO white. But I know that's a big leap..even an I would give you a lot more bang for your buck! With a WF ACA they are just cut so well you just see sparkle and fire and brightness.

Appreciate your reply. I didn't have a problem with I-J color either, but I took a female friend to look at diamonds and she said the color difference to her is noticeable when comparing an H to and E. I am not color sensitive so I did not notice a difference. Albeit the lower colored diamonds we saw today were not as well cut.

For sure at a brick and mortar store! I can easily see color with those, even the triple excellent cuts. Super ideals are so different. Have a look at the WF I and J in your price range - you might be tempted if you want more size! Or some of the other super ideals - I just don't know their pricing and can't personally say I have seen one ( except for Eightstar....my first super ideal and about 2x expensive as WF!)

Some things to consider - upgrade policy, settings. Its quite convenient to make the purchase a one stop shop, but it doesnt have to be.

You have already received a lot of great advice from the PS community, so consider yourself ahead of the game! I love the options from Whiteflash that @diamondseeker2006 shared with you... both of those look fantastic! In addition, I found a few diamonds at HPD that are in your budget that look gorgeous as well! Here are the links:

1.70 I VS1: https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD8852

I haven't heard of hpdiamonds before but after some research they look like a really good dealer. I have re-thought color and currently I am really close to purchasing this diamond:

What do you guys think?

This is a gorgeous stone, tiny table, higher crown. You can't go wrong with wf!
