40 year old setting - worth anything?

I recently reset a diamond into a new setting and am wondering if anyone thinks the old setting would be worth anything or if I should just sell it for the gold melt value of ~$80. I don't know much about it, only that it is about 40 years old or so and that it is stamped 14k mcl (the last character could possibly be a 1 or i).

I'd put it up for sale on DiamondBistro, and take PayPal. There are always people looking for settings for gemstones or sims, and they would not mind a "used" mounting.

It does look like an unusual setting, like it was handmade (which can be good or bad!).
