Hello diamondheads! I am currently in the market for an OEC and with Erica's new website, I am looking at 4 OECs. Started the topic so I can get a better grasp as to decipher which is the better of the four. With OECs I know the cuts are the way they are and if I wanted something of modern excellence it'll be the August Vintage from GOG but as of now I'm sticking with the OEC. Please let me have your input as to which would be your choice and why. Its gonna be an ering. :D

So the contestants are...

So 4 diamonds to choose from, my questions are... Diamond #2 & 3 have clarity characteristic reports, should I be worried?
I'm seeking that distinct flower petal look, unfortunately for the untrained eye, they almost all look the same to me, can you help me choose via grading system, ex. 1 > 3 > 2 > 4
Do any of them stand out to you or keep looking?
Diamond #3 has a large price jump (2,000) from #2 and according to the stats, they're so similar... Does the one color upgrade and clarity justify the bigger price tag?

Thank you for any input and advice. I greatly appreciate the help. My hunt begins.

Have you seen lowered colored diamonds in RL? I hesitate to suggest an L or an M if you haven't seen one in different lighting conditions. Most ppl perfer white diamonds for their ering (which I am not one of them as I have an N/O.)

Anyhow based off the pictures the 1.7ct jumps out at me the most.

I'm not a diamond pro and don't know much about OECs yet, but number 4 stands out to me BIG TIME. Followed by 1, 3 and 2.

I'm loving the color play in image 1 and I can see really beautiful facet cuts too. The color is glowing in all the pictures. Can't wait to hear which one you pick as this'll be a touch choice!

Hi there! I would say if you are like me, and don't know a whole lot about diamonds, ask Erica which is her favorite. Or ask her to maybe narrow it down to two for you. She helped me pick out my OEC, and it is just gorgeous!

Excellent advise! Erika has a great eye!

I said it on Facebook and I'll say it again here: the K has my vote. I trust Erica implicitly - she gave me great advice when I purchased my stone from her. I have an L in an antique cut: face up she's lovely and white. She only shows tint from the side. That doesn't bother me but she's not my engagement ring so it's a bit different. I agree with SB - make sure you have seen the lower colours and you are happy before you commit to anything being set. An M wouldn't bother me but it might you.

Sorry, I just realised there are 2 Ks! I meant number 4, not number 1. But it also depends on price...

The 1.70 does truly stand out to me but I would have less to play with in the setting department. I can almost get stone 1 and 2 for diamond #4. Do women prefer a bigger rock than a grand setting? Ehhh... thats another topic...

Well I've eliminated number 1 so far. :twirl:

I like the 1.7 as well. I think the facets and color both look great. Personally I'd definitely prefer a larger or better quality diamond over a setting, but that's because I prefer very simple settings. I know a lot of people are the opposite! Do you have any idea what the recipient would like, or what style she leans toward?

I do not have any idea about what she would prefer, a bigger rock or a better setting. Guess I'll have to get creative and start investigating... in the meantime I'm waiting for some more photos of the 1.7

I'll have to wait and see but I'm gonna start looking into settings pretty soon.

I like the big one on the right :halo:
