Well, I took the diamond back to the jeweler today and told him that it is a little too yellow for me, so he can send it back to the cutter. I can't believe I had it for 5 days. Thank god I did not loose it! I wasn't surprised that the salesman and owner were "gently" trying to persuade me to purchase it, especially considering that they had $9,000 profit built into the price! I decided that I should order a diamond or two online and really exhaust all of my options. I still think that the diamond I gave back today may be "the one." If a true GIA graded "I" does not look considerably whiter than the large 4.36 carat than I would rather go with size. Again, next to the AGS triple zero I color there was very little difference. If I do decide to still go with the 4.36 carat I will just order online and save myself $6,000.
I am looking at some diamonds on the website that someone on here suggested, www.usacerteddiamonds.com.. Does anyone know anything about this online vendor? There prices seem good on the EGL USA stones. I know that EGL USA is still not GIA, but if I expect it to be one off on color and clarity can it be a good purchase? There were many to choose from. I wish I could copy and past the links, but for some reason that doesn't work. What do you think about an EGL USA 4.02 carat I color, SI1, no fluorescence, ideal cut, hearts and arrows with a depth of 61.8% and a table of 56%? The independent appraiser I saw a couple of days ago recommended that I look at an I o J color with medium fluorescence. He said that the diamond will look like a G. What do you think of that? Will it only look whiter in the direct sunlight? Thanks again for everyone's help!
