Hi All!

So… we purchased this cushion from DG as an upgrade for our anniversary, as I posted a while back. (Not an AVC, but Jonathan said it’s the best cut he has seen outside of one.) I was dealing with some health issues (all good now) but I lost my mojo for this project in the interim.

I guess reality set in since then because I realized this sparkly is wayyyyy too big for my life. No one I know has a diamond this size. She is freaking gorgeous, full of fire. Prodigious flashes of fire! I love her!!! But I don’t think I would wear her as my wedding ring. She is just too big.

Which brings me to ask for your help! What should I do with her? RHR? Pendant? Can you give me some ideas? I don’t want to invest a ton of money into something I won’t wear often. But at the same time, this rock SHOULD be worn! She deserves to be seen and not hidden in a box.

Help!!

Btw- my pics and videos do not do this baby justice. I am not good at capturing the beauty of a diamond!

I'd get over it and wear it on my finger so I could see her in all her glory! :)

Hahaha!!! I know! But I am a teacher and my hubby is also a civil servant. We live in a small town. It looks like we either robbed a bank or won the lottery. I think I could get away with it for wearing her every once in a while, but not as an every day wedding ring.

Do you think if you put this the gorgeous diamond in a low profile solitaire or low profile bezel you might find that it looks gorgeous without being flashy? It really is beautiful and has the elegance that we love in antique stones. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I agree, it is soft, romantic, and elegant. The bezel idea really intrigues me. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so BAM! Here I am! in a low profile bezel.

This is dumb, I know it is. Usually we worry if the size is too small. DSS has not set in yet and I’ve been wearing her in the ring holder around the house. I was worried about the size when I got it, but I did it anyway. It was too gorgeous not to get!

Any news on your gorgeous new rock? Is she set yet?

Thank you for asking. :) She is being set in a temporary solitaire. I'm thinking bezel down the line.

I posted a pic of the IGI cert here. https://www.pricescope.com/communit...oec-from-ashley-at-sw-diamond-cutters.278893/

@Mom2424722 I teach as well and wear a 3 carat stone plus nice size studs. I am minimalistic in everything else I wear. Depending on your district’s demographics, could you possibly pull it off in a discreet, low-profile setting? Perhaps. But of course if you’re uncomfortable, that’s understandable.
If anyone comments on it (and you feel comfy with that person) you can always quietly confide that it’s LGD… I love it and would wear that beauty daily either alone or with a thin band.

Thank you for your reply! We are a free breakfast/lunch district. Most students are low income, but not all. More worried about co-workers. I know I shouldn’t care what others think. I have no problem with LGDs. They have not made their way around here yet. Maybe I could start a trend!

I vote bezel pendant. Pendants aren’t as noticeable as rings since they are more stationary. And every time you look in the mirror you will get a glimpse.

A stone with fire can be tricky on the hand bc it will flash every time you move. And having grown up in a small town, I understand your hesitation. It’s not bc you’re being small; it’s almost a form a social respect. Best of luck with your choice!

I like the low bezel idea too. You may feel self conscious at first but people are not noticing our accessories as much as we think they do. Maybe it’s a fun costume ring they’re thinking but they are probably not even thinking anything at all. Just ooo nice. And that’s that.

Wear that gorgeous thing everyday and don’t give another thought about it.

Looove it!!

Wowee that is the most beautiful stone! Another vote here for a low profile bezel. Agree with other posters that were likely more conscious/ aware of our accessories than others. Also agree with you that this beauty deserves to be worn and admired. I'm all for normalizing big bling. Who knows, maybe you'll start a trend where you're from

Thank you for this! I think you hit the nail on the head.

I put feelers out there, but I am really loving the idea of a bezel if I keep her. Also seriously considering the Dahlia setting. I mean, I guess I could try a social experiment, right? See how long it takes people to rock their own supersized LGD.

Thank you! You all have given me outstanding advice. I listed her for sale, but I may just go for it. I need to get over myself and get out of my own way.

Yes to both of these! I did the same with my recent oval LGD (initially listed for sale and then decided not to sell and set it). So glad I did as I'm really loving the piece and wearing it all the time. if you do decide to set it, I imagine you will too! It's not as large as yours but I'm hoping to add another in a similar size range in the next year or two (one I reach a particular milestone because im all blinged out at the moment, ha) because yes, I see big bling in lots of peoples future with the LGD trend. CVB has the most stunning settings so if you love it go, for it. Might as well starting enjoying it sooner rather than later! Looking forward to seeing what you decide. It really is a stunning stone and you can't go wrong however you set it.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I think it’s just shocking when you get a massive upgrade. I don’t know that it matters if it’s a EGD or lab. Did you post your oval? Im glad you kept it! I would love to see it!

I just saw the post of your ring. Gorgeous!

Yes, I totally understand that! I think once set and on my finger, I got used to the size the real quick. I think lots of people can attest to that. In fact, I think I could actually go bigger now when I didn't before, and as I mentioned, hope to add a larger piece in my collection in the future. I saw that you decided to keep it! So glad for you! Looking forward to seeing how you set this beautiful diamond! Have fun with it!

Did you decide to keep this and set it? I think a low profile bezel would look good, and the engraving on the shank might make the diamond blend in to the rest of the ring and make the stone edges stand out less at a distance, and making it not look so big? I'm in the exact same boat at you were/are, too big a diamond but having trouble letting it go so considering "minimizing" settings!

Hi, Is the listing for this lovely cushion cut still up on LT or did you decide to keep it?
