Hi all,

I had my eyes on a complete ring from a local jeweler but I am now having second thoughts on that one. Now I'm scrambling to make a decision and I'm running out of time. I need to have something in my hands before the end of October.

I am looking for a round brilliant over 1 carat, preferably G in color, excellent cut, and eye clean. Really was hoping to stay in a VS or above. As for the setting,I would like a cushion halo with pave. Total budget is $8K.

Can you guys please help me by posting a few diamonds and setting that would meet my criteria? I think the hardest thing for me right now is the timing and I'm concerned if I buy online I may not get it in time. Thank you very much.

Hi! I’ll post a few options for you to get you started!

1. My first suggestion would be to call ID Jewelry and ask for Yekutiel. They have access to Gabriel & Co. and Beverly K settings and could walk you through the entire process. He's excellent at finding stones in your budget and desired specs, too, and will provide light return images. Tell him Pricescope sent you and that you want a stunning PS quality diamond!

2. James Allen:
This setting says it will ship as a completed ring by 10/20:
https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/platinum-cushion-outline-pave-engagement-ring-item-49998

That setting in platinum leaves you with about $6200 for the diamond so here are some I found:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.02-carat-f-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2098914 - great price if eye clean
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.00-carat-e-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2115667
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.05-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2107733
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.02-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2091151
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.02-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2051497
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.02-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1064275 - if eye clean
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.11-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2069859
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.01-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2126835 - could also be nice but only if they can provide an ideal scope bc of the 36 CA

Whiteflash:
This Ritani halo is a nice one:
http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/ritani-french-set-cushion-halo-diamond-band-engagement-ring-3376.htm

Leaves you with about $6000 for the diamond. These are super ideal cuts and are more expensive so you’d have to go a bit under a carat:

So.. I called Yekutiel.... and we got something going! He is great!

He found exactly what I wanted and kept it in my budget. Here are some of the photos - he told me to feel free to post them on here. What do you guys think? I don't know how to read these photos, but he did say it was a fantastic stone.

That's awesome!! Yes, Yekutiel is just the most wonderful and helpful person!!! :))

Is this the only stone he has? It looks like a decent stone, what are the numbers? It's not *perfect* but should still be a very good performer.

Which numbers would you like to see?

And can you please provide a bit more info so I can voice any concerns about the performance to Yekutiel?

This stone has perfect numbers! The images shows an acceptable amount of leakage, nothing that I believe would be noticeable. The only thing I would confirm is that the twinning wisps are not effecting transparency at all (especially if the stone has fluorescence).

That is great to hear! The stone has no fluorescence and I was told the twinning wisps were not noticeable at all. I am so excited to see this thing in real life! Thanks again for the fantastic recommendation - done with a 10 minute phone call. Amazing.

Oh and one question for you. Trying to better understand the images above - where and how do you see leakage? Sorry for the double post.

You want to see the darker red coloring throughout. Lighter red or pinks (which can be seen under the table in this stone) typically indicates less intense light return but may also be due to strong back lighting especially on images with a white background. You would want to avoid very light pink and mostly white areas under the table.

You could also read some more specific details of ASET and IS here:
