So I had a 3 stone OEC found off eBay that was beautiful (domed with lots of filigree) but too ornate for my lifestyle and I only ended up wearing it for special events. It was too beautiful to scrap but I wanted to repurpose the stones for a more everyday 3 stone that I’d get more use out of. I finally decided to take out the two side stones, replace those with lab sapphires and use the side stones in a new ring with an AVR from Distinctive Gem.

The sides were uncerted but estimated to be K-L in color. There was an O color AVR whose size and price appealed to me but was unsure if the color contrast would be too noticeable. I sent the old ring in to Rhino to get his opinion and he thought it would work. Because those AVRs are so darn beautiful and bright, I think it faces up just fine with the sides. I’m not color sensitive. Some lighting I can see a difference, particularly the side view, but it doesn’t bother me.

I’m very happy with how it came out—I’m very pleased with the claw prongs and although not to most people’s taste, I love 3 stones where the side-stones are sizeable and not of the small accent variety. No snagging on my gloves at work either—I think this will get a lot of wear! My engagement ring was a 3 stone with 0.5ct sides and .93 center and after my divorce I had given him back the sidestones as they were his grandmothers—anyway, I’ve missed having a 3 stone like that over the last few years. Rhino’s mid level bench did the work and, as everyone will attest to, Rhino/Jonathan is amazing to work with.

Proportions:
side-stones approx 1.4 ctw 5.59mm and 5.61mm. estimated K-L
Center stone 1.5 O 7.15-7.22mm
Edited to add: ring size 7

SO gorgeous! Congratulations your new piece!

Such a pretty setting- and love the stones, too! ❤️

WOW, just WOW!

I think the old setting with the sapphires is perfect. It looks like it was made for sapphires.

Your new AVR 3 stone…. Just gorgeous. I love the size of all the stones, I agree that it’s a great combo.

Congratulations on this stunning piece!

Wow I love them both and the blue sapphires make the original one really pop. Well done!

 It's perfect. Per-fect!
Oh, my sweetspot for size!
And the original is absolutely beautiful as well. I love the pop.

Both gorgeous pieces! I love the color of the lab sapphires. Who did you purchase from?

Wow!!!! You have two ring projects in one swoop!!!! Your three stone is beautiful with blingy finger coverage and the two sapphires were a great idea…the beautiful blues in that setting…TDF!!! Wear both your rings in good health! Congrats!

Ah, now this REALLY appeals to me. I love the whimsical feel it has & yet it's so substantial & yet also delicately balanced. Really love the proportions with the larger sides - it's in my eyes a perfect 3 stone :kiss2:

It’s a modern day classic, congratulations!

Gorgeous! I love both rings btw.

Both rings are beautiful! Well done! I love the robust side stones.

Love your beautiful ring. I also love a 3 stone with big sides. Yours is fabulous and the AVR is gorgeous.

Thank you so much everybody! I'm too tech incompetent to do multi quote but your sweet comments have made my day.

Oooh. Both redos turned out fabulous!! I really like the sapphires - I actually think I like them better than the original diamonds in that setting! And your three stone is totally blingtastic :cool2:

Congratulations!! I hope you get tons of wear from your new-and-improveds :appl: ❤️

Your 3-stone ring is simply beautiful. Dreamy.

Gosh, thank you!!!
