Warning! If you don't like "gingerbread" around your diamond (that's what my husband calls it), and you prefer a "cleaner" look to your ring, then this isn't the ring for you! If you like an old world, early 20th century, "downton abbey" look, then you might like this.)

We upgraded from my GIA "good" 1.71 Esi2 ( which was reduced to 1.68 after polishing out a natural at the girdle) solitaire to an ideal cut (1A, Gia triple ex, hca <2, david atlas said the cut was perfect and the stone was on the high end of its color and clarity grades) RB 3.03 J Si2 set in a double halo. The inner halo consists of 2.5 point round stones and the outer Hal consists of bezel set rounds, princesses, and pears. There is three sided pave and miligrain along the bindi visual bezels and the band.

It's a complicated ring, but very dainty and not at all clunky. The diamonds in the setting weigh 2.58 carats and it is set in platinum. I will post my really awful photos in just a minute.

I know I should take the time to read the photography tips. This was taken with my old ipad. I will add more photos soon.

Holy Mother of Ring  We need hand shots!

Wow! I need hand shots!!

Wowza!

Agree, need to see hand shots!

Downton Abbey is right, because that is a DINNER RING! As in, it's just delicious. :lickout:

:cheeky:  Holy Mother of Diamonds...... can you get any blingier than this? It turned out most awesome. Hand shots, finger shots, macro shots and most importantly, the name and number of the jeweler responsible for this masterpiece

Wow!

Blimey! More pictures!!

How beautiful! I think it is stunning!

Please post more pics including hand shots please!

Ooh waiting for more pics! Hitting refresh again and again...

Wow!! Does that cover the whole width of your finger? :sun: Need it for that BLING!! more pics please!

Unfortunately, my hands are short and squat! While I am not heavy, my hands and fingers are stubby - so I can't say my hands do the ring justice. Nonetheless, here are some hand shots...

Love the sparkles from the double halo

Whoa momma! Now that is a ring! I LOVE how you used different shapes in the outer halo. Was this your design?

Oh. My. God.

That is a knock out. I really like it!

Wowzers! That is one blingtastic ring! Enjoy!

Wow, that is beyond words beautiful!

Holy sh*t! Now that's a ring!

I showed my DH and he just went, *gulp* I think that says it all!

Absolutely stunning!

 Wow, STUNNING!

Now that ring makes a statement as does the person wearing it. Love it on you! And your hands are not short and squat! They look great and with that ring on wowza! Enjoy!

Thank you all for being so kind. I realize that this is not to everyone's taste. I was hesitant to post it because I was afraid some would say it is gaudy. I worked with my very nice local jeweler using photos of two rings. One is by victor canera and the other comes from a company in Australia. I inquired about purchasing a setting from each of them, but was told that the rings were only available if I purchased a center stone from them as well. Of course, I very much wanted to select the center stone (I was in j si2 territory, so I felt ?I had to be careful!)

I searched all over for a nice stone within my price range, and was very discouraged by folks in the rocky talk forum. My husband insisted that the stone be 3 carats while I wanted an absolute ideal cut, eye clean or near eye clean, with j or better color. It took a while, but after weeks of scouring the Internet, my local b and m jeweler found this stone for me at a great price. I took one look at the specs and knew the cut had great potential.

We took the stone to David Atlas who really loved it. I also showed him photos of the two rings i liked. David thought the ring would be a knockout but he suggested that I turn the design 90 degrees, which is what we did. We made other changes as well. The VC ring is designed like a flat plate that sits in top of a ring shank. Mine was done so that the top of the ring is integral to the shank and the pears sort of drip down onto the sides. We added hand engraved miligrain and three way pave to the band.

If you saw it in person you would see that it is not at all chunky. The diamonds are set pretty low so it doesn't snag or get in the way. It's very comfortable
The cost was surprisingly low - it came in under budget. My jeweler not only gave us a good price on the center diamond, he was very very generous with my trade ins. This is the first and last time we will be doing this, but the entire experience was positive and I was delighted that I didn't have to compromise on anything.even the setting seemed fairly priced. ( I would love to hear some guesses about the cost of the setting. It is 2.58 carats with si, h-I stones set in platinum. They are very nice quality!)

Here are photos of the rings I liked.

Your ring is so whimsical, totally stunning. :appl: I'm glad you shared it with us. More photos please.

Wow...just...wow. I'm not a halo person but this goes beyond halo into old world glamour! You were right when you compared it to Downton Abbey style, or maybe even Gatsby. Just gorgeous.

That's definitely "gingerbread". I love that expression!

It's gorgeous. I would love to see some more close up pics too!

What a glamorous ring! Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous!

Holy moly Cow!!!! That is a wowsa ring for sure! Talk about finger coverage! I would love to see the side shot of the pears and the underside. Did you put a gallery there? I love that you took a style that you loved and ran with it. I don't think I could wear a ring that big but I love all the bling! So thrilled for you that you were able to get exactly what you wanted and at a price you are so happy with. That is a perfect ending to a bling adventure!
