I was just googling plain rings and I saw that James Allen, who I know is popular here, has 25% off their jewelry. It doesn't include loose diamonds or gemstones, but it includes all the wedding and eternity bands. Seems a great opportunity for anyone getting married (or wanting an eternity ring).

I might buy myself this one as a nice right-hand ring: http://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-rings/matching-bands/18k-yellow-gold-love-knot-wedding-ring-item-9500

Anyway, just thought it might be useful for anyone in the market who wants to save a few pennies! :wavey:

That's a lovely design! Would you set it with a center stone? That setting would really show off a small but exquisite (or exquisitely loved) stone well.

That is a pretty ring!

Thanks! Yes, it is pretty. I've got until Sunday night to think about it. The 14k version is only $360 with the discount. VR - no, I wouldn't set a diamond in it, although that's a great idea. I like it plain.

Do you think the design looks best in a yellow gold or a white metal setting? I have a neutral skin tone (according to MAC Cosmetics!) and I wear both white and yellow metals (separately). Would value any input.

That's a great love knot design - I like the symmetry and the center loop - I think I prefer it in the 18kt YG but the WG version is quite nice too (I've been eying this ring too, with the same metal choice dilemma).

Marymm- we will be ring buddies! :D

I was also thinking about platinum - sometimes I'm unsure about patina, but a heavy platinum ring is so luxe...on the other hand, perhaps the YG looks richer. Decisions!

By the way, on another topic, when I was still lurking I think I saw that you purchased a white and yellow oval diamond ring from DBL? I was looking forward to seeing it in SMTB. Was that indeed you, and if so, what happened with the ring - did you like it? I had seen it on his site and thought it was lovely (out of my budget though!)

I like it ...post pictures when you get it!

Love the idea of a heavy Platinum ring (also on my "wish list")!

I did buy the white and yellow oval diamond ring from DBL - it was really beautiful, extremely well-made and well-matched ovals - however, sadly and unexpectedly, on my finger I did not like the look of the alternating yellow/white pattern - if it had been all white diamonds or all yellow diamonds, I would have kept it for sure.

I love this ring! I would prefer it in yellow gold, but it will look great no matter what metal you choose.

I like that. I wonder if they could do a brushed finish on it.

Very pretty ring. Ooh to the 25% discount.

Thanks so much for posting this!

Couldn't resist and ordered the .50 angled common eternity ring (well .53 in my size). I already have the .25 version and hoping these two look good together.

But, after you make the purchase, they send you an email with a link to input extra info. In other words, they want more I.D.- work email, or government issue.
This step seriously pissed me off and I refused to do it. Spoke with them on the phone and she's forwarding a request to waive this step since I'm a returning customer. Still, they ran my CC prior to this so I'm going to billed. If they won't waive it, they'll have to refund my CC.

JA needs to make buyers aware of this step before making the purchase, not after.

I wonder if it depends on the purchase amount. If I got the 14k gold it would only be $360, for example, whereas your ring sounds quite a bit more expensive than that. If I get the ring it will be interesting to see if I need to do that. I haven't heard of other vendors requesting that info. But thanks for the heads-up!

About the ring, I couldn't find any real-life images of it - apparently it's quite new - however I did find some real-life images of the engagement ring, and the knot design looks kind of clunky in those images. I do dislike the white-background images on many websites - Blue Nile is a good example -because those photos give no real-life perspective at all. They almost look like drawings.

Anyway, here's the matching e-ring. The metalwork looks good and delicate in the stock image, but if you click on the real-life customer images, it looks quite different and not that great - bulky and not the same level of detail. It doesn't look finely-wrought like the stock photo. Should that put me off the knot ring posted above?

Thanks! I decided a new yg plain high dome comfort fit band was in order! For $274 it was a bargain! I was also sent the letter to send photos of my ID and Cc.

I'm so glad to have helped!

What do you think of the difference in the metalwork between the stock image and the real-life photos in the link above? Do you think that it means the metalwork on the wedding ring also won't be as fine as the image of the wedding ring earlier in this thread? I mean, I know the ring is returnable, but it's hassle, especially with doing the copies of CC and ID. Since I can't find any reliable real-life images of the ring and the metalwork seems to differ from the stock photo in the e-ring version of the wedding ring, I'm feeling inclined to leave it.

I decided not to get it. I'm put off by the look of the metalwork in the real-life customer pics of the knot e-ring in the link above, and by the hassle factor of the purchase. I bought a pearl necklace from Pearl Paradise instead (their sale ends tonight too).

I took a close look at the real-life pics of the knot ER, and I think you made a wise choice to switch your purchase over to Pearl Paradise - I'll follow your thread over in the Pearl Forum to see how the new cream strand turns out. I didn't end up buying anything from JA's or PP's sales, so I am living vicariously through others' purchases!

Hi Marymm,

I decided to grab the ring after all because I can always return it. If it is nice, it seems a pity to miss out on a great discount. So I got the 18k yellow gold version for $450, and there's a 60-day return period. The ring won't be delivered until shortly before Christmas though.

I could be wrong, but I think the image of the ring on the website is a computer rendering, not a photo of a real ring, so we'll see if the real thing looks as nice. If not, I'll simply return it - no harm no foul.

But I will post images of it here on Pricescope whether I keep it or not.

And I wait to see if the Pearl Paradise necklace is possible!

That's a pity about your oval DBL ring. It looked so nice in the images. I guess you just can't tell how something will suit you or not till you try it. It's funny that you are living vicariously through these purchases - I was planning to do the same with your DBL ring!!

Did you get it yet?

I got mine yesterday and love it! It's the platinum .50ct (.53ct for my size 7.5) angled eternity. I think it gorgeous and what a great bargain.

I have their .25ct eternity too. There's a huge difference in the way they look. The .25ct glitters, the .53 sparkles .. very different looks.

Again, thanks so much for posting about the sale. I would never have known otherwise.

Hi Elle, no I haven't received it yet. Apparently it won't ship until after the 18th.

I look forward to seeing pics of your two JA rings in Show me the bling!

You're welcome re. the sale. The SA said they had never had a sale like that before.

I got my JA love knot ring in 18K YG. It's a very nice ring but I'm sending it back because I don't love it, and $450 is a lot for something you don't truly love - at least, for me. It's nice but the band is thinner than I thought. I thought it would be wider and the metalwork would be more obvious. There was no hand video or any way to get real-life perspective shots, so it looks quite different in real life.

I think it's very pretty and looks great on you.

But yeah, if you don't love it, return it.
