I'm learning to "read" these two idealscope images and would apprecaite your help a lot. Disregarding the price and size of the diamonds, between the 2 images, which one is better? Why?

They both have HCA excellent grade in light return, but why #1 is significantly paler than #2?

Thank you,
Anne

Both very nice stones.
you would have to see them side by side to decide which you prefer.
Probably a 50:50 thing out of 100 people.
The 8* fans would prefer the top stone, but in this case the bottom stone will have more scintiallation, but might appear a little smaller in comparitive diameter.

you can not go wrong either way though.

Newsletters at www.ideal-scope can help.

Thank you Garry. But why #1 is significantly paler than #2? I thought the more intense the red color
is the better.

exposure difference I suspect

Actually the paleness on the 2 are virtually the same. It appears to be a matter of brightness/contrast settings on the camera taking the photo. This happens to us frequently as well. Use the darkest red as your reference. Since the images vary from scope to scope it's tough for me to comment on these. Under the scope we use if I saw the amount of pale reds and whites under the table this would throw up a red flag under our viewer.
