LOL... and omg, you flatter me waaayy to much! Reena is long gone btwand seriously, don''t listen to me LOL...I really don''t know what I''m talking about...
Can I ask why you feel you HAVE to buy one of these? It doesn''t really sound like you''re in love with either to tell you the truth...but maybe I''m wrong...I know how hard it is..you have a set budget (like we all do) and want to get the most for your money and we can''t have it all, so you have to figure out what qualities you insist upon and are most important to you....I don''t have to buy one of these, I just trust Jon and they have a great upgrade policy. I''m seeing some local stones next week just to say I did my due diligence but I don''t think that the broker will offer the same type of research & information that GOG supplies. Because of the upgrade policy, I could go with either stone.
I certainly didn''twant it to sound like I''m not into well cut stones with good optics and would always go for the biiger stone or that I was convincing you to not care about optics!......when I had my budget, I couldn''t have this 4 ct modern cushion D color, VS LOL....so I had to kind of figure out what was most important to me at the time...I certainly was much more obsessed about numbers and names back then...(I do want to add that now that I live in NC instead of NY....I probably wouldn''t go bigger in any event bc sometimes I feel stupid with my ring since it''s very different down here).....I remember your ring I think...a 3 stone cushion. Your center stone & Reena''s were roommates in Mark''s vault, right? I could be wrong as I didn''t do a search on PS. That''s some major bling....I agree that it may not blend in in some neighbourhoods but it is still gorgeous. I don''t wear my 4ct earrings outside of LA because it''s just too flashy. They are a dime a dozen here so it''s not so bad.
and you have what look to be two nice stones in front of you at a good price with a great vendor..maybe one is better than the other technically...maybe not......I''m going to try to watch the video again....I''m kinda saying that for me, a perfect perfect stone with superior optics isn''t all that important to me (but then again, I''m not shopping for a stne and looking for drop 20+gs LOL)....a very good cut and a VERY pretty stone is important to me....so if there is nothing really bothering me about either stone, and they are nicely cut....If I was in NY, I''d go bigger...
In addition to not knowing which stone to choose, I''m also suffering from "economy bailout angst". I started another thread about whether the economy is affecting diamond purchases. Somehow we didn''t blink when spending on home renovations in a sinking housing market but am sweating bullets on buying diamond that seems to get pricier every week. Oh, I need my own Oprah show....
BTW, I''m not sure what GOG''s trade in policy is...I wonder if it''s 100%? If it is, well, that might make things easier since you''re not married to it forever....I guess that''s not really the best way to pick a diamond, but at least you would know that if the one you picked bothered you a year down the road, you could swap it out.....

I think I want to vomit. I just charged both stones on my mastercard. I''ll post pictures of the 2 later this week.
I have to agree with Ellen. The 2 carat is amazing; the 3 carat seems a bit off, and that would bother me. As for spot lighting, I''m off to my favorite sandwich shop for lunch now. Is it my favorite because of their great salads, or because my diamonds do the happy dance in their spot lighting? Mostly the latter, I think!Date: 9/27/2008 11:08:06 AM

Really, rarely? I would have to politely disagree. Resturants, bars, and grocery stores are just a few with similar lighting. Any place with multiple lighting sources will show off a diamond to one of its greatest potentials.Date: 9/27/2008 10:56:01 AM

Go for the 3 carat. These were both great stones. They were both similarly white in diffuse lighting. In spot lighting, the 2 carat did perform better; however, you will rarely view the stone in spot lighting. If they''re both eye-clean, you''re paying the premium for the VS1 clarity.
Bottom line. If you go with the 2 carat you''ll be happy, but months later you''ll be saying, darn I wish I had the 3 carat! Size, size, size.
Good luck. And I have found many!
