I have a 2 carat RB that I want to set as a right hand ring and need some inspiration for a setting. I don't want to upgrade e-ring as my partner is very sentimental and would be upset, so I need something that I can wear all the time that downplays the size(so it doesn't look like a cocktail ring). E-ring is 1 carat princess in Tiffany replica setting so is quite modern and minimalist, I don't think a vintage setting would go well with it.

Suggestions/ photos would be most welcomed. :twirl:

Hm ... I don't quite know how one would downplay the size of a 2-carat RB as compared to a 1 carat princess. RBs face up bigger than princesses no matter what, and that's a significant size disparity, something like 9 mm to 6 mm. You mention your partner wouldn't want to upgrade - would that be just the stone, or the ring entire? If it's just the stone, possibly halo'ing the princess might give you parity on both hands, especially if you were to set the RB in a simple tension, bezel, or prong setting.

If it's both the ring and the stone that you want to keep the same ... frankly, I'd say set the RB in the style you love most, and don't worry about overshadowing the e-ring. The e-ring has its own, very special significance that a blingier piece can't detract from. And, frankly, I've always found there to be an interesting paradox in the belief that the e-ring must always be the showiest piece - given that most people get engaged early in life, before their finances are set, it only stands to reason that other pieces will reflect promotion and success! But now I'm just philosophizing. :rodent: Could you give us some idea of styles or designers that you really like, for better suggestions?

What style do you think you like?? Any designers???

If you really don't want it to compete with your ering, what about a pendant?
