Hi All,

I'm shopping for an engagement ring and came across this diamond on JA:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4480823
The characteristics:
ROUND -2.01 CT I-SI1 3EX Faint
David Atlas rated as 1B and HCA rated it as 2.5.

I noticed on GIA report that there're a lot of twinning wisps, also, clouds are not shown. While JA's consultant told me this diamond is eye-clean, and the twinning wisps are transparent so it won't affect much. Could you experts share some ideas on this? Is this likely to be a milky/brown diamond? How about the brilliance, fire and sparkle?

Thank you!

In the video, it looks like it has a faint brown undertone. But JA videos often seem to show tint that isn't noted anywhere on the certs so take that with a grain of salt.
It also doesn't look super sparkly - like it's got a thin film over it. I can't tell if it's dirty/dusty or if the clouds not shown/twinning wisps are having an effect. The conventional wisdom is that twinning wisps are the best kind of inclusion because they seldom affect transparency.
In this example, the stone just doesn't look as crisp. Not sure if that's transparency or if the cut is slightly off (HCA 2.5).
JA have a good return policy - you could buy it, get a loupe and check it out for yourself? But I think you can probably do better.

The stone is deeper than recommended and has a thicker girdle. These two things give it a smaller overall diameter than a 2 ct. stone should have. I would certainly pass on this one - too many other possibilities to choose from.

What's your budget?

Thanks for the advice! I have decided to let it go, it doesn't look so sparky in the video and HCA is greater than 2....
