1 pointer on Halo with 1 carat?????????????

I have a 1 carat Asscher and going for the Harry Winston/Leon Mege look. Should I get 1.3 mm halo or 1.45 mm halo? I am planning to get a 1.5 mm band. Inputs anyone??

I am also going for that look on a 2 carat round, and my jeweler said he was going to use 1 pointers. So for a ONE carat, I'd say half pointers as well...

Half pointers are around 1 mm and 1 pointers are around 1.3 mm. If you want that look, I'd go with half pointers.

It's SO hard to tell from pics, but it LOOKS like VC's halos are the SAME size as the shank? Am I wrong?

Seeker has a point regarding the shank width; however, the trend presently is leaning toward the seriously ultra thin shanks...I read someone here on PS has a 1.3mm French V pave shank (believe it's a LM) & if I recall correctly, she said that she has not had an issue with the band becoming misshapen, though she did say that she is very aware of how delicate it is & takes precautionary care. I wouldn't go less than 1.5mm on the shank, & even then, as Seeker detained, you will run the risk of the band "going out of round"

Regarding your halo: I generally will suggest 1mm to 1.1mm melee for center stones less than 6.75mm in diameter; 1.2 to 1.3mm melee for the 6.75mm to 8mm & so on.. I actually did recently do a micro pave halo for a 9.5mm round center stone & used 1.3's because of overall dimension restraints, & though the pave was beaded, IMO, the 1 pointers still looked too small for the large center...should have stuck with my first intuition & went with 1.5's

Good luck with your choice, but I definitely would consider no larger than 1.1mm diamonds on your halo...can't wait for pix !!!

I have seen 2 ultra thin LM bands go out of round within weeks of wearing them. Just because it is a trend does not mean you should recommend it. For me if the jewelers who do pave who are the cream of the crop (meaning VC and SK...and I'm pretty sure LM doesn't go that thin anymore either so I will lump him in there too), then I would not do it. There is a reason why you don't see them on PS and that is because we warn against it. I personally would not want to spend $$$$$ on a setting that could and probably will misshapen.

I think I remember reading that benches will do a smaller size melee in the halo than on the band. Since the halo melee are closer to the eye, they will appear to have the same size as the band. Hope that made sense.
