Weight = 1.65 carats

Measurements = 7.28 - 7.34 x 4.79mm

Make = Medium
Colour = Q
Clarity = I1
Notes= Very thick bruted girdle, strong blue fluorescence

Pavilion 44%, Table 58% Crown angle 33-36 degrees

From a private seller, not a dealer. I prefer lower colors. Under 3,000. Good deal?

you are losing significant size due to the cut. that stone has the measurements of a 1.3ct. diamond. keep that in mind when assessing the price. who graded it?

pretty nice, I had pictures in the sun but lost them. Its also an older cut so it flashes more in lower lighting.

I actually kind of enjoy the warm Q color.

BUT......is it eye clean? Does it make your heart go pitty-pat? AND.....how is the price when compared to comparable stones of around a 1.3ct weight?

Looked like some sort of older chunkier cut--transition? OMC? OEC? Hard to tell in that setting too.

around there, yes. it is nowhere near the size (dimension wise) of a well cut 1.6ct. stone. it is still a nice size but not 1.6.

around there, yes. it is nowhere near the size (dimension wise) of a well cut 1.6ct. stone. it is still a nice size but not 1.6.
the old cuts are deep with a visible culet and a very high crown.

We have to keep in mind the older cut--no way would it face up like a well cut RB, but so many older cuts can be deep.......

its transitional cut, my only issue is I need it to fit into a setting I have that would require a larger stone in the 1.65-2.00 range so i dont squeese the prongs

indeed they are but that doesn''t change the fact that it faces up like a 1.3(ish) diamond. you have to take that into account when pricing the stone.

i think it''s charming! hopefuly we can help decolady get close to a fair price for it.

it seems to be right in line with the measurements of the stones listed by blue. i think it is worth a 2500 dollar gamble.

will it be too small for the setting?

The setting sounds like it is going to be too large.....HMMMMMM.

What''s the setting like?

its an antique setting with double prongs. I might just go for it because I love the color, cut and even the clarity because its not a blazing I-1

I also think the pictures make it look like a 1.50, I have a 1.25 and it looks much bigger than mine.

I would be concerned that the setting may be too large. I had an OEC that was 1.20 with a 6.5mm spread so it faced up like a modern round 1 ct. If your setting needs a modern 1.65-2.0 stone the old cut you''re looking at will probably be to small. I thinks it''s a lovely stone though.

is there any kind of return period for it? it only seems fair that you have your own independant appraisal to assure that it is what they say it is.

I am looking in the size range you''re talking about (new stones, though), and I am finding 1.3 ct. to run around the 7.1mm range, 1.4 ct. around 7.2-7.3mm (the stone you''re looking at), and 1.6 ct. will be around 7.6 mm. So as others have suggested, it may not work for the setting you want it for.

the setting has a garnet in it, and the garnet measures around 7.7mm. its an older stone too. Thats the other thing, the seller is private so she dosent want a return.
