Hi,
I would like to get some feedback on if there is any concerns of buying a diamond with 1.5 year old GIA report. I have read in some cases it might have been traded in and have potential damage since it was at the lab. Is there anything else to watch out for?

It is a relatively good deal, price wise, I found through PS search tool and confirmed that it scores below 2 on HCA Tool.

The delay does not seem unusually long ...

You could always have a third party inspect (there is a list of appraisers here).

Will you insure the ring ? If yes, the insurance is based on the report, asuming the diamond conforms to it, and eventually cover any damage regardless of when it happened.

it depends.
A diamond with an old GIA report can
-be a trade in (someone purchased it and traded it in for a more expensive one)
-be priced too high
-have med~very strong fluo
-have a color/clarity combo that is not too popular (most popular ones are I~G and SI1~VS1)
-be just an awfully cut diamond

Thanks for the quick replies, I am not planning to insure it, it's around $1k so that's why I wanted to see if there is any red flags and make a call. Do you know how much appraisers typically charge for a rock around $1k? any recommendations? interested for one in Houston area

@flyingpig , thanks for heads up ! Only the first one would be valid for my case. I confirmed the cut with HCA tool, scores under 2.
