Are you asking us because you might take the ring back and buy something else?

It looks* nice but is it what she wants?

*cant really tell enough about it from your photos. We would need to see a straight on up-close photo of the cushion. We usually dont recommend 3 sided
bands (diamonds on 3 sides) because the girdles of the diamonds will eat into her wedding band. There are ways to prevent this like buying a slim
separator band so that the stones eat into that instead of her wedding band.

Something like this in white gold

It looks nice, but it's not what she wants. Lots of ways this could go: she should be happy with what you give her vs. it's not what she wanted. Make her happy, get her what she wants.

What exactly did her hints sound like? There's a difference between "Oh, did you see that so-and-so's ring is an oval? I love it!" vs. "OMG this oval ring is gorgeous...it'd be my dream e-ring."

FWIW, I think it's a pretty ring but at the same time, it's a lot of look. It looks like it has a double halo plus 3-sided pave shanks? What is your GF's style? Do you think she'd be happy with something like this even if it may not be her 1st choice?

I would sometimes randomly show her rings and i actually showed her one basically the same and she did seem to really like it, but the other day she said she prefers oval but I think its because all on instagram and everything the new 'in' is oval so they post a lot of ovals. I think she will like it personally but after purchasing it i'm just doubting myself a little.

If the girl says she prefers oval, she prefers oval. If you're hinting to her that you're ring hunting, she's likely "on to you" and is trying to subtlely direct you to an oval ring. Are you within the return period on this ring?

I dunno....it sounds like you were talking in hypotheticals I think it's really hard to say. What we think looks good changes, especially after trying things on. If you're within the return period for the ring you purchased, get more info from her and return it if needed. If you're not, you could always present her the ring and tell her you'll get something else if she doesn't like it. You would take a hit on resale but it may be worth it if that's really not her style.

Anyway, imho you need more info from her in order to decide what to do.

Hm, that's a tough one. It sounds like she's not set on having one style vs. another. And ditto to what @bludiva said. Sometimes, what looks good to us on Pinterest or on other people can totally change once we actually try a ring on.

Can you guys just have a frank conversation about this? I know it's not the most romantic...but that's what my partner and I did. He knew that I'm super picky in some ways and so we talked about each of our preferences and then went ring shopping together. At the time, I would have loved an OEC or a cushion cut (the chunkier cuts really appealed to me), but he wanted a round. So I picked the setting, he picked the diamond, and done!

On a personal level, I also believe that the e-ring is a gift and a symbol. As long as it's within the parameters of what your partner will like, I think you should keep this ring. If you chose it because you think it's beautiful and would be excited to see your GF wear it, then I say keep it. On the other hand, if you just picked it willy nilly because it was the first thing you saw within your budget or a friend of a friend offered you "a great deal" on it, then I'd keep looking.
