Hi all.

I am a victim of my own success. The engagement ring I had made fiance has been getting many kudos from her friends and family and has won me many brownie points. The only issue is that she is justly afraid of wearing the ring on her business trips overseas fearing that it may be stolen.

I am thinking about having a new ring made that will resemble this one, but be much cheaper. it will be a simple band that is the same 2.5-3mm width of this ring, but with a .05-.10 channel set diamond flanked by a sapphire on each side. Does anyone know if I can get my hands on an Asscher cut this small? My jeweler is not optimistic, so I thought I would check. I am not too concerned about the quality of the stone so she won't worry as much if it is lost or stolen.

Thanks for the advice!!

Dan

Me want. Sigh.

Meshuggie,

Why don''t you just have someone cut you an asscher CZ around the size of your wife''s real asscher. You can pop it into whatever setting (with sapphires), and she has a ring much like her actual ring, but it''d be no big thing if something happened to it. I think Wink Jones (www.winkjones.com) cuts CZs, though I''m not sure what his custom policy is.

Under Jewish custom, the wedding ring needs to be plan and smooth, no jewels. There are many reasons behind this, but I am not going to bore you with them. If you are curious, just Google Jewish Wedding Ring.

[QUOTE} I agree, at that size, I wouldn''t do it. I lover your idea, but that is small. I''m posting a link to a PSer who has an Asscher Eternity band, and they are .31, to give you an idea. Remember though, these pics are magnified. [/quote]

It is a nice stone, but .3 is almost half the size of her other rock!! The key here is making a ring that is simple and inexpensive so she will not worry as much about losing it or having it stolen while overseas.

Sorry, but CZ will only get me in the dog house indefinitely.

Thanks!!
