Style File: Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez has been in the spotlight since she was a small child, she was a Disney star, she was in a famous relationship, she has managed to navigate the child star to adult actor path more successfully than most. One thing that remained consistent, she loves great jewelry!

I missed her Barney & Friends era. When I was first introduced to Selena Gomez, it was on Disney in Wizards of Waverly Place. As a young nanny then I was very aware of what new shows kids were into. She came across as bright and precocious…but her style was right on skater girl trend, and I assumed that was the work of a costumier and may have been. Stylists, costumiers, and at that point, parents were likely the source of many of young Selena’s fashion choices. As she aged, her red carpet looks became softer and more glam. Despite many health issues that affect her daily life, she has maintained a successful career. Let’s take a look at how her jewelry taste has changed.

There is a stark contrast between the skater girl look and red carpet glam. Selena’s jewelry taste elevated along with her overall fashion sense.

Selena was in high demand with friends like Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens, and so many more. As a triple threat, Selena was at premieres, in films, on TV, singing in concerts, and winning awards. Social outings above and beyond her professional commitments allowed her to test her styles out. Her jewelry went from leather snapped bracelets to fabulous fine jewelry.

Selena has grown into a fashion plate, leaving her more questionable style choices behind and giving us gorgeous looks. She is obviously a natural beauty as well as an exceptionally talented woman. She often frames her face in large diamond earrings and it’s a great balance.

Selena currently stars in Only Murders in the Building with comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short. She has added Producer to her repertoire. It’s so refreshing to see someone who started in Hollywood as a small child thrive into adulthood.

Mental Health Selena

From People Magazine

“I have a long-standing passion for mental health advocacy and education, which is why I created Rare Beauty and the Rare Impact Fund,” continued the Only Murders in the Building star. “It’s a personal mission to continue this important work and empower young people to address their mental health.”

The Rare Impact Fund was launched in July 2020, and one percent of all Rare Beauty sales are donated to the initiative in addition to funds raised by the makeup brand with philanthropic foundations, individuals, corporate partners, and consumers. Aimed at supporting organizations working to increase access to mental health services in schools, the Rare Impact Fund has set a goal to raise $100 million over the next decade.”

Selena’s fashion has had quite the glow-up. As she is now thirty years old, she has made her mark in Hollywood and in style! Her earring collection is TDF, we have to wonder how much of it is borrowed and how much she kept! We hope she continues to thrive through adversity and keeps looking fabulous while doing it!

Selena wears a lot of white gold/platinum pieces with lots of sparkle. These are pieces that are both wardrobe staples, but never boring. Gorgeous diamonds will never go out of style with us!
