WSJ reports Dolce & Gabbana’s plans to launch a high-end jewelry collection featuring charms, rosaries and amulets of vintage heirloom design. Dark and dramatic, (and meant for layering, collecting) the handmade pieces will feature rubies, diamonds and pearls in gold.
It is a sign of the times in the luxury industry: expensive products are selling best while the so-called “aspirational” market struggles. References to heritage and tradition abound among luxury brands these days.
Indeed. The New Normal has arrived and in Dolce & Gabbana style with prices reaching $20,000 for necklaces.
