Birks is set to showcase a 10-carat pink diamond at its Manulife Place store in Edmonton from April 13-17. The radiant-cut diamond, graded a fancy light purplish-pink, is set in a classic platinum solitaire with rose gold prongs. The rough diamond, which was found in South Africa, weighed 21.35 carats and took 3.5 months to cut. Pink diamonds of its size are exceptionally rare–Christie’s states that only 18 pinks over 10 carats have passed through the auction house since its founding 244 years ago.
